Here are the reasons that I think why people get bored so quickly.

1.The game is not what they thought it would be.

2.Grind rate too high/Bad community

3.TOO many games to pick. The more there are,the more people 'honestly' want to spend few time just to move on and try the next one.

4.Annoying lagg, some computer just can't handle some games.

5.I believe it not butter.

There my answer GG and GN.

People work hard to get in game and then see that the title offers nothing new or fun over what they currently play or have played. They leave and wait for next game. A problem with many F2P games is that they don't really have much content past grind, farm, and forum drama. Besides many are several years old and people want F2P games with the content of WoW, LOTRO, EQ2, etc for example.

There are lots of reasons as to why people move on so quickly...

1. Usually, it's because it's utter crap. It's like when they show you the best parts of a movie on a preview and then you go see it and the entire movie is horrible.

2. A greedy company, or a neglectful company.

3. Horrible Community

Becuz the games turn out to be major suckfests. If a free game were to actually be the caliber of say a game like WOW then it would be hella popular for a very long time.

Because we hype games hoping they're our dreams come true and then they turn out to be crap. You can blame Meteo for that. He ALWAYS makes every game he posts sound magical and hypes it so we all get a false sense of the game's gameplay. (and you thought we couldn't blame one person.. pfft)

SOF:

1.Went dex mostly and found out my dmg is way below... at lvl 30s

Haven't tried Hero Online, but I couldn't stay long enough with SoF to even get a founded opinion --- it was too buggy to be played beyond the first few levels (more specifically I failed with the job change at lvl 10: I had a healer and was dependent on spellcasting, but the spell would rarely fire; in most cases I'd cast it and nothing would happen. I couldn't kill Boars with normal attacks, so it was a lot of running and trying to cast the spell --- which meant it took forever to kill a boar. And most of my boars got KSed anyway. Never got a leg).

Besides, even with a job change... what use is a mage if spellcasting doesn't work?

Well since we're all going off topic and flaming Scions of Fate. Did anyone notice in SoF archers did the fastest, furthest and most damage with their normal attacks? Lol.

Ya archers are mega overpowered in that game.

I had/have an archer and I could kite stuff WAAAAAAAAAAAY above my level and kill it with my first little special move fairly easily.

This game was a major let down for me, was one of the few F2P games I had been looking forward to... I could have lived with the grind, but the sheer greed of the company and the way they ran the cash shop and some of the "pay" features of the game, totally turned me off.

F2P games sucks because they're all the same. Always grind too.

People try new games because theyre bored of the ones out there, and once a new game is announced, they want to try their luck at it.

But they just dont like it, have major lag, or the community sucks, and then everyone leaves the game.

lmfao. There is still a majority of people playing hero and SoF. I like them both but I like hero more. Sof=7/10or 6.5 : (. Hero online=8/10. What do you mean "a couple of people" like the amount of players shadowbane online has?

Most people just expect too much now. Most new games that come here to Onrpg get so hyped up by the community and then the game i a big flop when it is released.

OffTopic: Quickhand, I'd hit it :D

Hero Online: This game has insane potion & skill tapping. Since there's hardly any delays, you'll be hitting keys faster than a game of stepmania. It really makes the grinding unbearable, as you have to be focused on the game constantly.

Scions of Fate: Had the same system as Hero, minus the tappings. Sadly enough, this game has one VASTLY overpowered class (archer) and has a great deal of hackers. During the first month there were bots everywhere, but the staff didn't take action at all.

As I see it, I leave most games due to lack of staff intervention. If I realise that my character is competing with others that have a far easier time than me (bots etc), I leave promptly.
Another reason is that most games don't offer a way to play the game in a more relaxed way when you're tired & bored. Most games requires total focus on the pc when grinding, and there's no substitute.

Theres one simple reason for this, people expect too much.

People go into a free game expecting it to have everything that any pay to play game does. Thats just a stupid expectation to have.

If a game is free you should go into the game expecting something that most people wouldnt be willing to pay for. That is the reason most people go for free games, isnt it? They dont want to pay to play something.

If you arent willing to pay for something, dont expect to find something good. If you dont expect too much from a game, you wont get disappointed quickly, and may actually spend more time playing.

I think its because (IMO) all the games are the same. The combat is always the same the quests are always the same the point and click is always the same.

Well you have to remember it's just closed beta. No one knows what the game is going to be like yet, but everyone wants a taste from the plate. And then once everyone gets a taste, only the people that like the flavor will keep playing..and the rest quit. Also, most people give up cause of the waiting time from CB --> OB.

Trickster (only been live for less than a year buts its doing pretty well)
Conquer
Silkroad (kinda dyin but still alive)
Shadowbane

curious to ask why ppl love Conquer, the other mmorpg you listed above has some good points but what's good with Conquer? I don't see it

Conquer is good, to me, their powerleveling system is great , shining equipments and mad damage and alot of more stuffs. It's possible to get to level 70 in a day if you can find a decent Plvler at the correct place.

GRINDMMORPG player's biggest ennemy.
And well, people get bored quite fast, only a few MMORPG's are frickin' reppetitive.Grind isn't my biggest mmorpg enemy. My biggest mmorpg enemies are.. 1. Lack of things to do. 2. No crafting skills.. can't play a game without crafting skills or some sort of pet you can raise like on PSOBB.. 3. Cool skills. 4. BALANCED classes. 5. Balanced shops, in some games there will be level 10 items for 10,000 whatever the ingame currency is when you only have 3,000 by that level so it's just like "What the fuck? :hmm:". Me done.

Even if the game is good and fun, I wouldnt play it actively, if the only people I meet are as stupid as this guy...
The best game kills the fun early, if you dont actidentaly find nice people to play with. If you played in an active guild with TS and a lot of player2player action going on, you wouldnt leave, even if the game is near crap, would you?
(I know i sticked with a 100% mental grinder for 2 years for only that reason and still find that all its shortcomings are forgiveable, for the fun I had)

Perfect World

I have heard of it actually, havent played it though.

I think you may possibly have misunderstood what I said though.
This is what I said:

"Theres one simple reason for this, people expect too much.

People go into a free game expecting it to have everything that any pay to play game does. Thats just a stupid expectation to have.

If a game is free you should go into the game expecting something that most people wouldnt be willing to pay for. That is the reason most people go for free games, isnt it? They dont want to pay to play something.

When did I say a free game can not be equal, or even better, then a pay to play game? I just said that its stupid to go into the game expecting that. Why is it stupid? That should be obvious, games, especially mmorpgs, cost money, ALOT of money. If the game is free to play, they dont really have a good way to pay for everything required to run and improve the game.

If you think about it like that it should seem obvious that most free games can't really be compared to a game that isn't free. It isnt impossible for one to be as good, it just isn't likely.
