Absolutely not. MS Paint is more than capable. Its all I use. I used it to make my avatar. Someone might come on here and complain that Graphics Gale or Photoshop are better, but when it comes to convenience, MS Paint has them beat, because every Windows machine has it. If youre at the library, school, or even grandmas house, you can pop open MS Paint and practice, or if you have a flash drive or floppy, get some actual work done. :D

ok, i've made some sprites, but how do i get it to recognize the sprites? i put them in the GFX file for sprites, but it only shows the ones it started with and not mine.

I think its looking for a specific name for the spriteset file. You can either add your sprites to the current spriteset, or delete (or rename) the old spriteset and save yours under the old spriteset name. For example, if the old spriteset is called graphics1.bmp, then rename it graphics2.bmp and save yours as graphics1.bmp.

Graphics gale is better tool-wise,
the fact that you can pop paint anywhere doesnt make it better.

But yes ms is good for creating sprites

does anyone know how i can get them to stop showing other parts of sprites? it's like the bottom half(or less) and the top half(or more) that's showing...

Told ya.

MS Paint has every tool you need to make pixel art. It has a pencil. ;)

I dont know whats going on with the splitting of sprites. I've heard about the issue before, but if youve got everything lined up correctly, then Im not sure how to help you. If worse comes to worse, just move your sprites into the areas that the server is pulling from.

Working with playerworlds id say your issue is a result of poorly lined up sprite sheets.

They use a 32X32 grid and unless you line it all up perfectly you get bits of the feet etc from the line above or the head from the line below.

This is why photoshop is so much better for extensive tileset and chipset work.

There is an option to set up a 32X32 grid that you can turn on and off over the image that things click to, lets it all line up perfectly.

good pixel art is made with LAYERS... paint doesnt have layers...
thats why graphics gale is better :)

I made my avatar with the pencil tool. Perhaps you can show me something better made with layers...

Besides, Im not saying that Graphics Gale isnt good for pixel art, Im only saying that Paint is just as good. :)

You know, in essence, it doesn't matter what program you use so long as it gets you the results you're looking for. Paint, Graphics Gale, Photoshop, Gimp; why does it matter what other people use? Just use what you like to use and be done with it.

Very true.

I just get edgy when people say that MS Paint isnt capable. In the right hands, any tool is the best tool. :)
