is there anywhere i can go to look at some screenshots of other games to get ideas for maps? right now i'm stuck with three different shops, and an area to go into the shops

Being creative is just like anything else. Go rip ideas from somebody more brilliant and add your own flavour to it.

heres a few quick google image searches that might inspire some new areas for you:

roman
gothic
vampire
aztec
indian
celtic

Theres no need to loot others ideas directly from their maps, learn how to see an idea and integrate it into your games environment.

If you're still stuck for ideas then I also suggest *gasp* reading some books. Theres a lot of incredible content out there in the vast multitude of books that never makes it out in the mass media as ideas.
