Erm, and not neopets. That barely constitutes entertainment, let alone a game.

Anywho, specifically I'd like something where your pet is actually different from other people's, and there's a variety of pets to get, and they actually do something other than just eat and follow you around. xD I'm really into sort of creature-raising things, so yeah. Anything with decent customisation is dearly loved.

Ultima online, you can have 5 pets at a time, and they grow up and develop different skills. I have 5 dogs, all with different names. Theres alot of cool features, like the ability to have your pets guard your house, or a treasure. You can also have mounts and dragons and stuff like that. Best pet game Ive ever played.

I've always wondered about Ultima online. Where do you play the original (I assume you're talking about the original xD). I'm more into the anime genre, though. I dunno how satisfying it would be. xD

hmm well I haven't played it, but rf online is said to have a good "pet" system for the summoner. This is what I've learned: the summoner can summon 1 pet at a time, having a total of 5 pets maximum. each one can lvl up from 1 to 50. after lvl 20(I believe) it changes appearance after every 5 levels(Or a number close to that). If you don't play on a p. server, it will be a grind around lvl 20s and deadly grind in 40s. But graphics look really nice.

The summoners "pets" in RF Online are:

Isis - Pure beastly damage dealer
Paimon - Great tank (you can use him to tank pitbosses in higher levels for like 8 damage a hit)
Hectate - Ranged attacks, very nice stun
Inanna - Healer that uses own hp to heal.

To get a summoner, you need to be a level 30 Cora. That means you should start as a spiritualist. At 40, you get to pick your second job change. Most summoners go grazier, because that's when they can get an isis the easiest. The only other ways to get isis besides the level 40 job change are: to buy one, or to farm it yourself on Turncoats. They aren't really pets, like most games. Though, they do follow you around while you have them summoned, attack who you say, etc. You can't name them, you don't feed them. The proper term is Animus.

the summoner is one class of rf online(currently p2p for everyone in america). but there are ways of playing it for free, if you catch my drift.

well u can play any version of ultima online and have great time with you animals. some servers will let your animals evolve as they kill more things. some will evolve through about 10 different type of monsters. u can have up to 5 animals depending the server your playing u can have more. the way u command them is by telling them what to do. like if your animals name was fred youd say fred kill,or fred stay along with many other commands. but to command all u say all stay,or all kill.and yea your animals are by far stronger then any person no matter how high there skills are ,that dont mean they cant kill them though.ive played like every pet mmorpg this one by far best pet system. along with the best in alot of things like the houseing system is by far the best no mmorpg even comes close to it. use uogateway.com for servers.

he has a good point i can bet anything that if UO was full 3d with WSAD controls it wouldnt be the WoW killer it would be WoW DOMINATOR god i love that game so much cant wait to play again. Anyways Mythwar is very heavily based on pets one of your first quest you get a Centipede wich btw does awsome damage
if you only put points in its str and hp.

In Ts online, you can capture any monster you face, it takes A LONG TIME but you can. Although there is no pet system as in feeding etc.

Rappelz has an awesome pet system. at around lvl 25ish start grinding Blue pixies, Orcs or skeletons and if your lucky they will drop a pet card and once tamed you can have the pet run around with you and fight with you as you level he levels and gains new abilities...its pretty awesome you should try it. apart from grinding for around 3 days or more just to get a stinking card its awesome once you get it :D

still no freaking love for freaking monster and me where you NEED a pet to actually play.

thats couse monster and me was far from what i wanted from a pet system specialy when the game is based on pet.

Someone the other day mentioned Crazy Tao, although I say it looks exactly like freakin EuDemons, which is highly dissapointing.

try nostale, you can capture just about any monster you run int, you can even play as him. most complex petsystem ive ever seen, though, it's a little to slow for my tast:D

Yeah Nostale surprisingly is fun to me actually, although it is kinda starting to feel like a watered-down version of Ragnarok Online, which is kinda turning me off to the game.
