Since this is the Shameless Promotion area...I'm going to shamelessly promote and hopefully provide some ideas about the business side of MMORPGs.
In 2004, we launched a text-based MMORPG called Streets of L.A. (www.streets-of-la.com). We racked our brains trying to figure out how to make money without drastically altering the look and feel of our game. We didn’t want to plaster Google Ads or use other low paying revenue streams, but that seemed like our only option.
After years of trial and error, we stumbled upon Incentivized Click-Per-Action (CPA). Simply, we made money when one of our players completed an action. Typically, the action was filling out a survey or entering in an email address. While the payouts were great ($.75 - $2.50 each), it was very labor intensive. We had to constantly edit offers, scrub leads, monitor fraud, and try to keep up with all the payouts.
We're greedy...so we also wanted to keep 100% of the payouts and reward our players only with in-game bonuses (points, gems, gold, turns, special items, etc.), instead of cash. Sadly, no technology existed that automated these processes and gave us the ability to methodically convert payouts into game bonuses.
In 2006, we formed a new company (CPALead.com) and decided to create our own technology that would:
1. Automatically list new offers and remove dead ones
2. Track payouts and lead conversions in Real-Time
3. Instantly scrub completed offers to avoid user duplication
4. Auto-convert dollars to in-game bonuses (based on the unique payout of each offer)
5. Instantly reward users when the leads were converted.
Since our 2006 launch, we have helped MMORPGs and GPT sites convert over 320,000 leads.
There is no cost to join our network or to use the tools we’ve created. There are no application fees, set-up fees, monthly fees, hidden fees or termination fees. We only make money, if you make money.
Currently, we have over 110 incentivized campaigns running live on our network. We work on a 90/10 split. Meaning, for every lead you convert, you get 90% of what advertisers pay us. You know, up front, how much each lead pays.
