I've just bought cs soure the other day and my computer meets all the requirements. A funny thing always happens when i play though. After several minutes of game play the game freezes and the sound loops. Before i use the forums i usually turn to the internet. It just so happens the cause was my out of date drivers. I updated all of them, but when i ran driver detective it said my sound driver was still out of date? can someone please help me? where i can find an updated version of my driver or such??!?!

3d audio engine: Xear 3d, crl3d, ds3d, eax2.0
audio codec: cmi9761A
audio driver version : 5312.01.0044.1(39g)
audio control: intel 82801EB
direct X : 9.0b

all information was from the xear3d exe file

please help me thanks

Do you need to driver to play (like it still freezes up after a while)? And do you have Vista? If you do, just go to the Device Manager and it can do the updating for you without all the searching. But if you still have XP, then you'll have to do what Fox Company said. Post your specs.

Oh, and did you already check the Steam Forums? Try going there for help.

First of all, you have DX 9.0 B installed, 9.0 C is the latest, I suggest updating DX first.

Secondly, you should post all your rigs specs first if you need more in depth help.

His graphics card will work. I played CS:S with a GeForce 4 MX (REALLY old) and it worked perfectly fine (with all settings on low, I forgot at what resolution though, since I got a better computer now).

And about you only being able to play on custom maps, lol. All my other friends have that problem, since all their comps are old too.

source games are hardly card-based

if you look at all benchmarks with those games, it's CPU limited, your card should be fine with some normal not extreme settings (no bloom and AA etc)

try finding sound drivers for your onboard sound too

anyone who says your computer is incompatible is a noob

I run it fine with my AC97 audio

Most people have that problem dw and even if they can play them they lag a lot more [like me] my specs arent amazing and my cards arent updated mainly cos i cba downloading a 200mb file just to update it [yes that IS how old my card is] i do get a lot of lag and freezes if i have background programs or if ive had anything open before so once youve got DX 9.0c restart and if you use xfire open that and then css but only have those 2 open
