View Full Version : need team for new mmorpg
Team name:
The EFO Workers
Project name:
Endless and Forever Online
Brief description:
I am making a 2D game with many classes, races, and abilities. I need help in doing this, as I am not great at many parts of game making. The game will be directed mainly by the community. If they want a feature added or removed, I will set up a vote and do whatever the outcome is.
Target aim:
Freeware
Compensation:
Only for fun, sorry. Isn't the fact that we are creating the perfect 2D MMORPG that everyone is looking for enough?
Technology:
Playerworlds, but if I raise enough money with donations I will create another version of the game with a better engine
Talent needed:
Scripters, spriters, animators, tilers, mappers
Team structure:
Me and my friend are mappers, and I will do a little spriting and animating when needed.

Contacts:
jetz_fusion@yahoo.com
Additional Info:
This game will hopefully incorporate the following by public release:
Elf, barbarian, Human, gnome races
Paladin, Dark Paladin, Black/White Magic Wizards, Warriors, Archers, and Clerics classes
PvP Arena
At least 5 quests
at least 35 spells
at least 12 Paladin/Dark Paladin/Warrior skills
At least 3 towns
at least 1 dungeon
at least 25 monsters
I am hoping to release the first public version in 1-4 weeks of starting this project
I have a private network in my house with a server for this to be hosted on once its complete, so no dedicated server will be needed.
I also have a no-ip address, which i will tell you when you join. Since the game has just started, I do not want to post it publicly yet, because then potential people will join and quit due to serious lack of content

May I suggest C++? It is MUCH more flexible than Visual Basic.
Do you have a webmaster? (Sorry for asking that same question over and over again)
i dont have a webmaster, no
and i still havent decided, but i'll look into C++ i heard its pretty good
what program is the best for C++?

u read that tut on onrpg site???
i would NOT recoomend player worlds it sucks so bad use elysium diamond www.splamm.com/elysium
i am just using playerworlds to get a basic mold, then i will convert to a better engine. i feel like PW has an easy interface :p
i am thinking of maybe converting to the Graal Or Elysium engine sometime after i get a nice world built
btw if anybody wants to see what i have so far, you can connect if you download the Playerworlds server/client at http://www.playerworlds.com
then for the ip config put pwfo.hopto.org and 7234 as the port
then create your account and log in
i or an accomplice are on most of the time from 9:00a.m-9:00p.m (not always me on may be a person helping me)
and yes, i am not going to stick with playerworlds, i am just using it cuz of the easy interface (easier admin interface than Elysium, at least for what i need :D ) but once i get done i may switch over to elysium until i buy a copy of the Graal engine
and my forums are at http://pwfo.14.forumer.com/ check there for any updates

Ask Eriond about the C++ stuff. To tell you the truth, I'm just a beginner beginner beginner C++ programmer:p . I'd give myself about a 0.25 on a scale of 1 - 10.
lol i am gonna try C++ sometime tonight or tomorrow, i'll probably suck horribly at it :D
ive seen tutorials around, never bothered to look at them, so ill go check one out
and more than likely ill be posting questions about the most basic stuff

Well, you must understand that that's the development forum. It's not really made for the end-user in mind. Just the people working on it. After some work is finished, then I'll put up a real site and forum.

oh hey! that's wicked Eriond, except we're looking for people who don't get tired of a project so easily...

I didn't say I was tired of it, I just said it might fall apart, because it was becoming inactive, and that I'll keep you posted that if it DOES fall apart, I'll be avaliable. You don't see many employees working at a bankrupted business, now do you :P (not that this is going to happen, things are starting to pick up again)

hah ok! i understand what you mean now Eriond! I don't want to take from someone else's dev team either. If your having fun there then stay...but I guess theres a little more to it than just having fun...
but anyways! Naruto, he means the project might fall apart...people start fading away untill theres only the leader left...

It's a downward spiral. People feel like there isn't a whole lot going on so they become more inactive, and as they become inactive, of course, not a lot does happen, so others begin to drop out until there's nothing left.

I know a little bit of C++ and am fairly familiar with Open GL. If I could be of any use to your project I would like to join your team. My email address is geoboardman@hotmail.com. Just send me a message if you I could help the team.
