On other forums people say that runescape sucks because of the graphics, but they never try to play the game and see how good it really is. I mean for a game with these kind of graphics has a butt load of updates, has a huge community, and the best thing is that you can work different skills: You can train for a day then the next day you can train on mining, then the next something else i mean ther are alot of things to do in this game which is very fun to do if you have the patience. And there you go for all those rs haters you have to read this!

yeah good point the community is great and the playability is endless but there are a few online games out there with slightly smoother graphics that arent so time consuming...

yeah well i had to admit when i first started playing runescape i wasnt so pleased with the graphics and i just quit but after awhile i went back and started playing. its actually really fun and the graphics arent THAT bad......lol. =]. especially if you have a friend to play with.

although i wish that they would add some stuff on the free server too.....i can't get members. =[

yeah i agree about not adding stuff on the free servers i mean some people can't get members (like me) so just because some people cant pay a stupid $5.00 every month cuz they need that money for something else (cuz think about it, $5.00 is like $60.00 every year spent on rs) so just neglect the free servers???????? i feel that makes the game kinda unpopular but that's just me. :rolleyes:

graphics arent the bad thing about runescape. the bad thing about runescape is the players. most of them are idiots and people who conastantly beg or call you a noob. saying that rs has a great community is plain stupid. the members forums are full of spam and if you are high lvl then after only 5 mins from logging in you get some idiot begging or someone trying to scam. bleh.

I personaly can't stand the graphics. After 2 or 3 years of Runescape 2, they havn't updated the graphics once. The graphics are one of the main points of the game in my opinion.

i gota admit rs was fun till u get ur skills really high and it takes a long time to level up a skill till then its rly fun though

I played runescape for 5 months, getting up to level 77 combat and 77 mining. I had about 10 skills level 60 or higher.

And right around this time, I discovered what "grinding" means. I had to kill thousands of hill giants to get my prayer from level 51 to 52. I had to mine and smith for 1 year (3 hours a day) to be able to make a rune scimi.

I think that runescape is perfect for a team of 8-10 people playing the same character. They can take turns leveling up in skills without getting bored.

RS2 isnt that bad especially considering its in java. but theres one easily avoidable problem... there hasnt been a non member update for as long as ican remember! not ONE do they even care about the non members? im CERTAIN some non members help Jagex, ive invited several of my friends neach of them became members. thats money jagex might not of gotten if ididnt play and i dont get anything. even though non members dont pay, they still should get atleast one update every now and again. ive only seen one and that was update for how cows look which im guessing is just a side effect of a members upgrade.

yeah new armour, it sounds really cool actually n im sure many of the memers will be flooding into the non-members worlds to do it for a change, i think they should do more stuff like this, it will keep the non0members attention more and maybe one day make them decide to become a member rather than treating their members like royalty and disregarding the non paying people totally...

Someone who takes the time to raise at a high level knows the game has a lot of potential. Most people who talk against Runescape never took the time. Runescape is not fantastic, but it's better than nothing if you got a bad computer.

Well i think the graphics are pretty good. In Java you can only get the graphics up to a certain level before you can not update them anymore. There has been some non members updates, but nobody seems to remember them. Anyway runescape is the best quality, online, no download mmorpg that i have ever seen. I havent seen any non text based, online, free, non download mmorpgs.

very true. which is why i quit runescape a while ago. however i stilled played it for like 2 years and back then i thought it was great. alot of people start off on this game and then move on to something more challenging.

i dont like rs anymore so i dont play it. simple as that. whats annoying is people who dont like the game but who also feel the need to slag it off constantly and blab about how rubbish it is. i mean geez its not like people are forcing you to play it.

I've played Runescape for at least 5 years. Ok, I admit my opinion could be influenced by the fact i absolutely suck at it myself. Including that, i still the game is really bad. First, the game is always the same. To gain 1 level, you have to kill 30 giants of your level, after each of which you have to regain your health, except if you've taken another two hours time to prepare. And then, you go and kill the next group of monsters and so on and so forth. No change. Then, there is a small thing with the name: I've noticed the game is frequently called a reoleplaying game. Yet, i've never seen any roleplaying in it at all. Oh, and then there's the small thing where you can't say a word without getting stars. Which, by the way, doesn't prevent 90% of the things said from being insults.

i think its called an rpg because your avatar isnt you, it doesnt wear the same clothes as you or whatever. it can swing swords and do magic and junk so i think that constitutes the tiny roleplay element, you are pretending to be some kind of travelling hero.

nothing against minors here but seriously could you imagine how bad it would be if the entire 12 yr old population of runescape tried to do real rp? after 5 mins you would want to kill yourself.

plus it would be hard to talk anyways because of the word filter:p

well this is what i found after playing runescape for a while:

Battle system:
this has to be one of the worst parts of runescape. I literally read a whole book while playing it (200 some odd page book about physics) I never understand why people enjoy sitting there watching the numbers go bleep bleep as their character whacks a goblin.

Graphics:
"oh look when i click on a monster my polygon robot goes to attack it...wait a minute robots dont have hair!" Usually i don't care about graphics but runescape's graphics just made me laugh really hard. I found that apparently the purple turds with strings coming out of them are rats and the white blobs are chickens.

Replay value:
terribly low, i don't see the fun of watching my cardboard character walk around and go attack other miscellaneous shaped enemies.

Community:
okay this is what mmorpg's are all about, and I get it now. A poorly graphic repetative game played by mostly 13 year olds going through puberty issues has to be fun! Why is it that people look for relationships in a game (my guess is that they failed at the real thing)

I actually had a funny experience with two players:
So i'm walking around bored of killing chickens and i see a group of players, so i decide to just follo this one girl for a while and she finally gets anooyed and tells me to go away. Well since i was bored, and wanted something to do i followed her some more, then she got pisssed and start cussing at me (i guess this from all the astricts) Well then a guy comes up and tells me to leave his girl friend alone. I told the guy to go read a book little kid and he told me that he was 19. Surprizingly his girlfriend was 17. Isn't that nice! boyfriend and girlfriend wasting thier lives together on a crappy game. He told me to go away and i told him that his girlfriend wold be happier if he moved out of his mom's house.THE END

conclusion: if your the type of person who wants to find an excuse of wasting their life away instead of commiting suicide, then this is the game for you. Honestly this has to be the worst mmorpg i have ever played.

you got to be kidding. Runescape has one of the worst communities i've ever seen, ever since runescape 2 came out and they started advertising on miniclip, the community turned into whiney greedy 11 year olds with no respect for anyone or anything, that's why i quit runescape. I couldnt play for an hour without someone insulting me or trying to scam their way out of buying things at the proper price.

Advertising on Miniclip was the ultimate downfall of Runescape. As it was for other online games.

Puzzle pirates for instance. That game was great. Everyone would role-play pirates, and replace yes with aye, yell arr after winning a battle and replace 'am' with 'be'. Then they posted it on miniclip: "omg can i go cnnon duty plz plz plz".

There was also that freaky club penguin game. You used to be able to have a decent conversation, as is the point of the game. Then they posted it on miniclip, and in came people who took 5 seconds to write a single word, during this time, they can't look at their screens and so they can't read what you have to say. Then when they think you're ignoring them, they call you a noob and start throwing snowballs at you. (Yes, sad that people call others noob in an online chat game featuring penguins.)

Alas that is the fate of most online games nowadays. Even full p2p games have lil kids that are just too naive to understand the game. Let alone display any signs of haveing manners.

Runescape has pretty much everything I look for in an MMORPG, except for the graphics. If Runescape had the graphics of World of Warcraft then it'd be the most popular game out there, that's how great the set-up is. It's just not that popular because most gamers look for great graphics and that's what Runescape lacks.

Besides that, the only problem for me is that it gets boring after a while. You train to be able to do something, such as wield a certain weapon, wear a certain armor or do a certain quest, but then after you can do that all you use it for is to get to the next level and wield the next new armor or weapon after that. Then, you get to the top and there's really nowhere to go. You're basically just training to make training easier for you.

If Runescape had the graphics of World of Warcraft then it'd be the most popular game out there.

Anyway when talking about runescape you have to take in consideration some certain things.

1. Java
There is a certain amount of things that you do with graphics on java, which equals, not alot. Also Runescape is the BEST completely online (no download) non text based (i hate texted based) mmorpg.

2. The commnity
People! If you dont like the community on runscape just block them out. I do that all the time if somebody annoying me (which is close to never)

3. Runescape vs. Synria (spelling?)
Synria is so much alike to runescape. The only reason I play Runescape instead is because Synria is text based.

I was lv 63 with really good stats but then the game sucked me in and i was doing bad in school so i need to quit. I droped every item i owned, but now i wanna play again but i dont think it is worth it(i get members eisally so ill become one again) Do you think i should play again or is it not worth it. I have Wow a bunch of games and sites im making in the meantime i dont want to get consumed in the game again.

Hahah, yeah you did, but it would be pretty hard for Jagex to attach the servers from the browser one to the Client one.

Well..They could tear down runescape and use the graphic engine for Mu Online...Then rebuild Runescape around it...Of course changing some stuff..

the game works as it is. look at it from jagex' point of view: tons of players, lots of them pay, lotsa money

I agree totally! But same goes for everything in the game (Armor,weapons,runes,piks,ect) i mean they just change the name and or color. Thats why I switched to supreme Destiny. IT would be nice if RS had a good community some decent GFX atleast 2D... guilds(not just the fishin guild,or warriors, I mean player guilds!) but if they had all tht theyd make it all members and ramp up the price. And all the workers get is cheap cash and free gym credit.....

i think the game made alot of players cuz its easy to acess and you dont really need a good computer to play it.
