I tried reading American Gods, but I couldn't get into it. I'll have to check it out at the library again sometime. Is it really that good?

I think it's pretty good. It was the first book of his I ever read, when I was in grade 11 (I think). I really liked the fact that the story is complex enough that each time you read it you discover something new. There's so much going on that is never openly explained, stuff that ties in with mythology that you won't get the first, or maybe even the second time through (at least, I didn't). It's really a sort of epic myth about modern America, like a 20th century Illiad, in my opinion, once you truly understand what's going on.

Neil Gaiman's greatest work however, is the Sandman graphic novel series. It's not a comic so much as an illustrated story, keep in mind. It has very little in common with what people commonly think of as "comics."

Do you talk to Noah? He said that American Gods was one of the best books he'd ever read.
