It looks like Halo 4 might have just been accidentally confirmed, not that news of a sequel to the Xbox 360's top exclusive would be surprising at all.

The Bungie guys were kind enough to donate a voice cameo in Halo 3 for non-profit Hollywood Arts, a group that "reaches homeless young people through the arts." But in the description of the official eBay auction for the cameo it seems that some legumes were spilled.

Voiceover will be recorded at Blindlight Studios in Hollywood, CA before May 15, 2007 or this package will have to redeemed for Halo 4.

While this seems pretty straight forward, I suppose it's possible the Hollywood Arts people jumped to some conclusions when they said there was a Halo 4, but I sorta doubt it.

-This "malfunction" is no accident it was caused by Leutenient General Ambrose who "Saves" master chief(John) and infroms him of a new spartan program. Which john will train. these new spartans will go after much more dangerous objectives(basically Suicide missions)
-The planet on which the spartans are trained on is called onyx(In other words the shield world).
-During training explosions break out on the planet in a top secret area called zone 67.
-It turns out that Onyx isn't really a planet but is a piece of forerunner technology which they created to protect themselves from the flood.
-The convenant arrives en-mass to onyx and an epic battle ensues between the convenant and forerunners with a small group of the original spartans, Dr.hasley and the new spartans in the crossfire.
-The spartans are trying to reach the centre of the planet to gain control of forerunner technologies and to keep the covenant away from them.
-Turns out that inside the so called "planet" is an earth like bomb shelter.
-Master chief forces all of the other spartans and Dr.hasley into it and then stands alone untop of the hill against thousands of covenant.
-Just before he dies to moves his own name to the MIA list because "a spartan never dies" along with his alter-ego.

Halo Wars is a RTS made for the 360 (no plans for a PC release so far) and is made by Ensemble Studio's with the help of Bungie. Although it has nothing to do with Master Chief It's in the halo universe and takes place before halo 1.

Read the book, the Chief isn't the trainer of the Spartan III program. The Spartan II that trained them was lost before the Fall of Reach, and the book you just outlined takes place during Halo 2 and before Halo 3.

In Marathon you find "The Spartan Armor" In the freeze chamber that hes in now. I'm not sure if there was a body or not but I am pretty sure that signifies that he will be frozen in that for the next 250 years.

If anything they will either Continue on the Spartan III project which was hinted in one of the books, or they will bring back Kelly, the Female spartan who was the only other survivor of the Spartan II project, and who was in DoA 4.

Actually, if you think about it, Marathon may have been a prequel to Halo. The civilization of Marathon would have been the Forerunners, which explains why they were forced to reverse-engineer their slip-space technology from another alien race. The humans of the Halo universe already had it when they encountered the Covenant, the first aliens they'd ever come in contact with.

According to an interview on Xleague, there wont be a Halo4. We havent seen the end of the Spartan Universe however, according to a Bungie Dev, there will be more Title/s I mean, HaloWars is already confirmed, so for all we know, they could do Prequels.
