use dxdiag or something to check everything is working properly. i havent got a clue what the problem is though.

its something that checks all your direct x applications and other junk is all working properly. go start > run and type dxdiag. but actually that probably wont do anything.

myabe some of your drivers for your card need updating. check the manufacturers website for updates.

Was this before you had installed the game, as you said you downloaded it to your desktop and the installer wouldnt open, which probably means the download got corrupted, try downloading the game again.

i have a windows 98 and it works fine on it but it a little lagy.u should check if u have all the requirments.

Original Windows 98 can cause problems, Windows 98 SE and onwards seem to be ok. But looking at your sig you seemed to have played fine before, whats changed since then? Still seems like a problem where you should re-download, but i guess 98 may have some unknown incompatablilties with Conquer version 2.0.

I had a Windows XP 2000 I think, and it broke down. So I had to get this old Windows 98 PC. And also, its probably because of the sound card, because whenever I try to turn on the sound speaker, it doesn't go on. I wonder what's happening...

If you have already tried re-downloading it, it will be a problem with your pc :P what are the exact specs anyways.
Conquer dosent need a sound card to run, the sound problem, if that is the root of the cause will be when you try to open conquer and it comes into contact with sound dlls, drivers etc it causes a conflict which results in the error, this will be due to old driver versions, im not sure how update your pc is but the sound files could be corrupt or incompatible with the current conquer client.

So I should check my sound files and re-install ComquerOnline? I can try both.

Sure you should try everything but it may just be that conquer wont run on that system, just have to wait and see.

Go to the main conquer website and look on the forum boards. I had the same problem and I had to download the file from there. I don't remember the exact file name, but they have threads discussing missing files.

I downloaded the FTP client from the CO site, and I don't think I deleted anything.

LOL! Win98 is an Operating System not a PC. :D You can check ur spec, just right click on My computer and select properties. You can find most of the infos ur looking for. ;)

It should take you straight to the download page.

It checks the version of your Windows and also checks if your copy is original or pirated (I think). Windows can perform for validation check itself so just click next or ok and wait for it while it checks your OS.

wow a bit late to answer but, i had the same problem, i had to rebuild my computer, then i had to redownload bitcommet and then redownload the client and it works perfectly again :P PS don't try it on windows vista....don't work too well >_>
