After recently coming across my PMANG account once again, I've decided to take up playing S4...only problem is....well, I don't know if anyone else is going to be playing it! heh...
Anyways, I'd like to start this thread as a bit of a gathering, if you will, for it's S4 players...if you don't play the game, try it out! It friggin rocks.
FAQ:
1)What is S4?
For more answers as to what it is, search for nzrock's S4 League Online thread. It's not too far back and is possibly on page 3 as of 12/19/07.
The site is located here.
http://pmang.sayclub.com/s4
2)Can you make me an account for PMANG?!
Sorry, this thread isn't for those kinds of things. This is for people that actually have or can get themselves a PMANG account and would like to start playing S4. Also, while I do consider it not nice of people who HAVE the power to make accounts not doing so, it's still a very hard process, and people have lives, you know? Not to mention, they're possibly berated with those kinds of questions all day long. I had to invest time into making my account(which nzrock was able to assist me on slightly, thanks....wonder if you remember, XD), so you guys should too...
Believe me, it took 3-4 hours before I could get one up...I'd say why, but talking about "those" are banned here, so I won't!
Long story short? Use the guides and take some time to make an account! I did, and I'm happy as hell!
3)Is this game coming out in english?
It's possible. Pentavision DOES have an english version of DJMAX for the PSP, but that failed MISERABLY and I don't think Pentavision is going to be trying that again. The real question is this...if it IS released to us...will it be for the PC market or PSP(yes, this is also a PSP title, :O).
4)Omfg, it's like GUNZ!
True, but thankfully, it requires more skill than simple button mashing. Oh, and for those of you who want to say something about that, I can show you a thing or two in K-Style, so be quiet, I know what I'm talking about. I personally enjoy the game more simply because it's got all the flair of GUNZ, but with better graphics and overall greater gameplay.
5)Any more info you can give us?
It's your info I'd like! Post your IGN and we'll figure out a way to get this ball rolling! From what I can see, people are having trouble making accounts...I will TRY to help you, but I can't promise anything, I can only tell you what I know...which isn't very much. Also, there AREN'T alot of English players...so, come on, people! Get in the game and let's(try) to make this another DnF!(as in the english community for both ARAD and DnF is ABNORMALLY LARGE, lol).
nzrock, if you see this post, I may need your assistance making this work. If you've found yourself uninterested in the game, I understand. I'll be making a bit of a makeshift guide for players soon, so don't you worry.

Character Creation- Simple enough. Not many options to choose from, but just make one quickly and get right into the tutorial. It should take you there automatically, after some button presses. The left one is usually the right choice.
Tutorial-Also, self explanatory. Simply follow the on screen directions(has a digitalized keyboard showing you what to do). There will be a point where you need to destroy things with certain weapons, so be on the lookout for that. Also, you will encounter a room that seems insignificant, with a red gate at the end. GO into that red gate and it'll kill you(you must do this, as it shows what happens in death apparently). Get done with the tutorial get ready to S4!....whatever the hell that means!

I think League 1 should officially be onrpg's server. This is, ofcourse still up in the air...as not many people are playing to care, lol. Basically, click one of the options and it'll take you to this screen.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/Tys03/S4_20071219_174157.jpg
Similar to DnF's server interface in some instances. No official translations, but I usually frequent the first 4 shown here. For now, we're going into the first option.
From that point on you'll be taken to this screen.

As you can see, there is a moveable picture of your character to the left, with rooms being shown above these three odd buttons. They obviously serve some purpose....obviously....however, that's not why we're here...I don't hope, lol.
Side Note: Bare with me, I have no Korean fonts yet.
From the last screen, we can see three options(the three gray bars) to choose. They are...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/Tys03/S4_20071219_174045.jpg
Your inventory screen is the left option. Here, you'll have the ability to equip your character with weapons, clothes and skills....which is what the three tabs represent. Currently, I am on the weapons tab.
Side Note: Apparently your weapons AND skills take damage. It's not shown here, but when I first accessed this today(after playing quite a bit on Monday), there was wrenches under each of my weapons and skills. They apparently can get damanged, so remember to keep up on them if you want to keep them!
The middle option is...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/Tys03/S4_20071219_174115.jpg
The Shop. When you first create your character, you'll start out with enough money to buy a weapon or two, a skill and some clothes. This is an open beta, so it's possible this may change. Very much like the Inventory option, there are three tabs, Weapons/Skills/Clothes. As you can see, some of them are crossed out. I soon figured out this is not because it's not in the beta, but it depends on your level. Refer to the numbers underneath my character in the blue box. That's actually my level and EXP till next level. These will become available as you level. You'll be notified everytime you level up by witnessing their silhouettes at the end of the game. Money doesn't seem very hard to come by. Once you feel like you have to shop again, you'll have enough money to buy these things...that doesn't mean spend every cent! Remember, you have to repair your existing items!
The right option is...

Character Selection screen?!
Apparently so, but I can't make any new characters(or possibly, neither can you) so I'd stay away from here for now.
Now, back to the first pic....

To the upper right corner, you can see four purple icons. From left to right they are...
People in Server---->Tiny little FAQ showing the controls---->Options, ranging from mouse, graphics, sound and controls--->Leave current server(this will take you back to the server select screen).
That's it for the lobby! Just click on one of the blue options and you'll be in a game! Remember to find a game that actually has room....or start your own, by pressing the option to bottom-middle of the screen in the lobby(by the arrows leading left and right, the ones that represent the multiple pages of what rooms you can join).
Come back later for gameplay!
Gameplay Tips(Currently lacking screens at this time, will update them once I get my problem fixed...it could have something to do with maintenance...if I get in today, I'll see if I can get the pics up sooner.)
To start us off, let's go over some of the weapons.
1) Dual SMGs-Like in most games, these automatic bullet spewing devices are more useful then you think. Straying from the usual "Sprayer" formula, taking time to line up your shot instead of running around like a moron and hoping to achieve something by simply firing at air.
Tip 1: If you can, stand still! Movement is always essential to action games, especially when things can get EXTREMELY hectic with 6v6 frays. However, if you can, it's possible to actually do some sniping action with the SMGs. If you can successfully stand still and fire at someone who it moving around constantly, you're going to be getting more hits then him/her.So much so that this person will probably run to cover or call for backup. Don't rely on this alone, though! If you have to, run for your friggin life! Use the sprint move(W+W, similar to the forward dash of GUNZ and boosting in EXTEEL) and get the hell out of there!
Tip 2: Cover+Reload=LIFE! Remember this and you'll live longer then usual. Believe it or not, not many people take cover while reloading, but this is almost essential to ANY weapon! Especially considering the reload times for each weapon, while varied DO take alot of time. So far, the longest reload time I've seen is the Mind Energy weapon, but this ain't no cakewalk either!
Sword-When guns just can't get the job done, it's time to get medieval on their asses! Unfortunately, running in and slashing will have your avatar spewing 1's and 0's in no time. Believe it or not, there's a combo you can use...for great justice!
First! Remember these two moves!
Sword Plunge(Jump+Attack)(Space+Left Click)-When in mid-air during a jump, press the mouse button in order to bring your sword upon the heads of your victims. This will both damage and stun the opponent.
Dash Attack(Alternate Attack)(Right Click)- Use your might and speed in order to damage and throwback your opponent!
Also, remember that in order for the combo to have FULL efficiency, I figured out how the whole Knockdown technique works. Simply hold down the Attack button(Left Click Held down) and it'll do a quick little charge move that knocks people away. Do this after the combo instead of simply pressing the attack button and continue doing so in order to kill the opponent quickly.
Now, onto the combo...it seems complicated, but once you learn it, it becomes second nature.
Stun Kill(Jump+Attack--->Alternate Attack+Attack)(Space+Left Click--->Right Click+Left Click)- Rush towards your enemy and when you're close enough, use the Sword Plunge move, and stun your opponent. While stunned, use the Alternate Dash attack to tackle the enemy to the ground. Immediately, at the end of the dash attack, use a regular attack ONCE(Left Click). This cancels out the recovery time for the Dash attack and allows you to continue the combo, thus making it almost endless.
There ways to end this fool!
A: Continue the original combo. Simply stun and dash, remember to cancel the dash attack! Not sure if it's possible to cancel the Sword Plunge technique as well, will have to test that.
B: When you cancel your last dash attack, don't let up! Constantly dash attack the fool out of existence! Not sure if this uses up SP. If it does, the opponent will be dead before it runs out, believe me.
C: Kick a man when he's down?! You bet! Unleash the fury on his/her friggin skull and attack the hell out of him when he's down! (Regular Attack, Left Click). Regular Attack is not as powerful, but it gets the job done. Just don't rely on it during a duel between another sword user.
Why should I end the combo these ways?
A: Allows you to keep control of your opponent. The poor guy won't know what to do!
B: Not as much control as the first combo ending, but allows you to end the opponent quickly.
C: Dangerous, as the opponent can run away at any time, but allows you to conserve SP, which is good because once your done, his/her buddies are going to be pissed!
Why SHOULDN'T I do these?
A: Kill can be easily stolen by a team mate with a gun. Believe me, it happens, and when it does, you'll be pissed.
B: Focuses too much attention on the individual. Someone can easily come up behind you and do the same.
C: Slow, not as powerful and ultimately asking for death, especially when dealing with a group. Use that extra SP to get the hell out of there!
Mind Energy Weapon-Your all out of ammo in a firefight and reloading just isn't going to help...not to mention your melee skills are horrid! What do you do?! PULL OUT DAH ENERGY WEPZ, DAT'S WUT! This weapon allows you to not only shoot through walls, but if you're able to trail the opponent closely, you don't have to keep your reticle on the person as the beam will follow them. However, if one of their team mates comes to help, be careful to not aim at them, or else all your work will be lost! Mind Energy weapons are usually created for 1v1 situations, as using it to deal with an entire group is rather idiotic, considering it's main stay is focusing your attention on one simple person instead of dealing with multiple foes. There is also a buyable Mind Energy weapon in the shop that allows you to heal your team mates. This is a great advantage to both you and your team, as you'll be able to not only contribute to the fight without fighting directly, but also win the game much easier(alot of the games are close as hell, believe me). In one of nzrock's S4 videos, he showcases that the weapon that allows you to heal team mates also has the ability to take away an opponent's HP and feed into your own...however, I think the option may have been taken out, because I have not seen anyone point the ray towards any opponents, instead, many people choose to pull out their melee weapons to deal with MEW users, which in itself, is both a good and bad strategy.
Laser weapon- Like sniping in most games? Feel that you can't get a kill for crap if you get up close and personal with people in this game? No problem, there's a weapon for you that will get you kills like crazy! This weapon has two variations, both of which are extremely dangerous. There's the newb variation, that has a bit of splash damage effect when you shoot it and the variation you get once you level up enough, which shoots in a much straighter line, but does significantly more damage. Each weapon has a charge time. The more you charge the weapon, the stronger the blow that is dealt. Remember to always charge this bad boy up, because simply shooting it like a regular gun is useless!
Tip: Believe it or not, the Wings skill(the skill that allows you to grow wings and fly) is the most useful skill for snipers. Let's look at a scenario. let's say there's someone on a roof who has 50 HP, but he's almost killed you. He's only got Dual SMGs and it looks like he's going to chase after you. Jump off of the roof, but use your wings skill. As you fly up to the roof once more, as soon as you see the guy, it's time to unleash the ****ing fury, and let him have it! 10 to 1 says you'll win...that is, unless he dodges it somehow...then you're kind of screwed, :O. Don't let this discourage you from doing so! Believe it or not, many people DO not see this coming, use this to your advantage.
More weapon tips on the way!
Speaking of which...
Can ANYONE give me a loose idea as to what this is?
