Hi all, i have The elder scrolls 3: morrowind and The elder scrolls 4: oblivion.
Morrowind works fine, but oblivion doesnt.
When i get into the startup screen for oblivion, with the new game, load game options etc, i click new game and it shows me the video, and i get into the game, but my char and the background is just white. I can see all the panels (hp bar, fatigue etc) and i can see the char creation panel thing, but when i have made my char the screen is just white.
I can see some outlines of cups on a table, but thats about it. I tried to change te options, but when i get into the video options and try to get back to the main menu or the game, the game just shuts down.
I have a radeon 9250 video card, is that the problem?
Post your ideas, much appreciated.

i guess so. from what i heard, oblivion requires a good com/video card to run perfectly.
not really sure though

Your graphics card is probably not able to run the game properly, the minimum ATI requirements for Oblivion are an X800 series. Although, I have an X200 and I'm able to run it on very low settings, so I'm not completely sure.
If you wanna try, from the title screen, go into the graphics options and reduce everything as much as you can. It may limit playability, but as it is, you have no playability anyways. I can't guarantee it will work though, what you're describing seems to me like your graphics card doesn't have a 3D shader or something. (I wouldn't know, not an expert...)

ok thanks, anyone know the average price of an x800 video card?

X800 is bit outdated now, I'd advise getting something from the X2000 series or the new HD series if you want to be able to play future games easily.

Oldblivion works wonders, but it has some horrible glitches. (screwed up my game files once, I had to re-install everything) And it also doesn't comply with some mods. If you're not going to be using too many mods, go for it, but be careful, Oldblivion isn't exactly stable. (at least it wasn't for me)

But its better than barely being able to run the game.
Right now Ive been thinking if Id play Oblivion again, but with mods... anyone know good pose and armor/weapon mods that work with it?

Too many to list. The game is great for textures and skins.

Just look here in the armors and weapons section. You'll definitely find a couple in the latest news section.

IM not using oldblivion and it runs fine on my computer. Im not sure about my graphics card but my computer is pretty crappy. Its only got a 2.8ghz processer and 512mb RAM. It gets a little slow sometimes, but it runs ok

Mmm it might be that your graphic card is too old for the shaders then you can just turn it off by changin a simple number with notepad...
Just go in the folder where Oblivion has been installed, next open Oblivion_default with notepad, do Ctrl+F and write bForce1XShaders then just turn the value to 1 ...
Because you know the shaders and models are the only difference between those 2 games, next the models can make lag but not crash or freeze, the shaders can so I guess that its the problem.. usually if you can run Morrowind without lag, you can run Oblivion too..
