I've downloaded and installed MS 2-3 times.. At first I had installer issues, but got them corrected.. Now I click MS icon, The game guard screen comes up and you can see the status bar at the top left running fine, but then the screen just goes blank and my PC stops responding so I have to re-boot..
My pc meets the min requirements, and I didn't have this problem on my other pc which has the same specs.. I ran the MS.exe in the install folder to do the little video tweak and nothing.. My drivers are all up to date and DX is up to date...
Any suggestions on what may cause this and what I can do?
I know there's a sticky regarding the tech probs, but my answer was not in there, which is why I'm starting this thread... Thanks for any help offered..

As i stated in the tech topic, run the setup.exe, not the ms.exe.

That's what I meant is I ran the setup.exe... My bad... I got the thing where it displayed the logo going around on the screen and then it changed the freq. to 85hz, but that didn't do anything...

Ah, ok then. Another possibility is, since nexon divided the .wz files, i also notice that sometimes, after the gameguard thing is finished, the screen goes black and it takes a somewhat long time for maple to start.
How long have you waiting till you reboot? Telling about how much ram you have, how much space is left on your HD's and where maple is installed might help also.

Isn't there some settings in the Maple Folder? Then when you click it, it sets the screen resolution to meet the game....by popping up a lil' box with a person stating 'If you can see this please press "Blah+blah".'

Also, try changing your refresh rate, muck around with it a bit. That's what the setup.exe is meant to do but it kinda botchs it at some points, so try changing your refresh rate to about 60 hz? Depends. Also, system specs help alot :D.

@moose and slate: If you can see the image given by the setup.exe, it's not a vidcard prob, that's already finished.

I always have this problem, but I blame it on Vista.
Just wait it out. After about 3 minutes no responsiveness, open Task Manager and kill the Maple Story task. Then try again.
Giving us your system specs would help a lot. Are you also running Vista?

I usually wait about 10-15 minutes before reboot(I can't pull up task manager as the PC just locks up).. I play it fine on my other PC and I get a blank screen on that one, but it only lasts for like 10 seconds..
The PC I'm having trouble with has Intel P4 1.8ghz, 512MB DDR, 64mb Video memory, 800mhz FSB, I have a 80gb drive, with 90% Free space... Thanks for your help...
PS, and I'm running XP SP2...

I suggest you go through all steps in the tech sticky. Sounds it is a directx prob for me, but doing it all doesn't hurt.

Tried all the sticky stuff.. Updated my driver, Updated Direct X (Which was already updated).. Ran the setup.exe display program, un-installed and re-installed MS...
Re-downloaded MS and installed that one, etc... If anyone else has this prob and fixed it with something else, please let me know.. Thanks..
