Ive played a lot of diffrent mmorpgs and for some reason today i noticed something. Maple story weapons and equips dont have any effects. IN other games weapons have things like lifesteal, , decreasing movement speed and so on. In maple theres nothing like that on anything. Wouldnt maple story be so muhc better if weapons had lifesteal and diffrent effects, and if your weaponed slowed monsters. Just an idea i felt like sharing :D:D
Also i heard they are putting hp bars on monsters in the january patch, is taht true?

Yeap, their putting hp bars soon and that will be soooo useful!

And to your opinion, we already sort of have some upgrades like that, except it has to do with their own kind. Like we can raise the STR on a Earring, and maybe more speed in shoes...

But i know what your talking about...i played WOW...but i dont think MS wants to be that complicated...>_>

Ye i know about those lol ive only been playing since beta :p but i meant things liek lifesteal and other effects liek in WoW lol

I don't think that's a good idea. First of all, it's much too complicated. Nexon would have to take about a 424087 hour patch to take off all the weapons; add these effects, then put them back on. People are going to complain if every single weapon has the same effect, so Nexon would have to think up of over 100 effects a weapon could have. Not only that, but because of the number of weapons available, there are bound to be bugs with these effects, and they will be exploited by many. Due to Nexon's inefficiency to fix these 'Zero Day' exploits, you'll see a lot of people complaining about how "'____' player is flying because of his Korean Fan", or how "'____' has four faces and half a mouth". It's much too complicated for Nexon to implement, and I just don't think they would want to waste their time on this stuff. Scrolls are enough. What did you want anyway? Glowing? Two times damage? Extra experience? Most of these effects seem to be things that Cash Shops items might have in the future, so I don't think Nexon would be giving it out for free.

Another reason I don't think this is going to work out is because of the market. If something like this was implemented, the market prices are going to change drastically. While this might be good for those of us who don't own valuable weapons, those who do own valuable items would be furious. Everyone would want the top of the line weapon effects, and the entire market would be shifted around. It would just be too confusing for the community because everything would drastically change. One day, a 15 Attack Work Glove would cost Billions, but the next it would cost mere thousands because there would be a new item effect that would "Add four times the attack" or something like that. People are already annoyed at how fast the market can change, and adding an 'effect' weapon to the scenario just isn't a smart thing to do.

But piggy everything you just said made me immediatly think of gachapon and dark scrolls. 15 att worgloves were billions but they went down to like 300 mil now. It was just an idea and a lot of other games have it implemented. Plus they could gradually introduce it liek they introduce all the new weapons from gach and all the newer items

Gachapon and Dark Scroll cost NX Cash in order to get. It's not going to be available to 'normal' users unless they pay the price set by someone else. I already said I think that this might be the direction the Cash Shop is headed. I still don't believe that Nexon is going to introduce something like this because it's so complicated.

When you said 'An Idea for Maple', I assumed that you were talking about something that would be free to all the users; not another NX Item.

This woudlnt be nx. It would just be normal scrolls. it was just an idea your taking this way too seriously.. lol. I never really thought it out that much, it was just an idea.

I'm not taking this too seriously. Idea's are awesome. They are the basis to everything. I just don't think this is going to work out.

Keep those ideas rolling though. You never know. Perhaps Nexon will pay you 100,000 NX Cash for this idea and ban me into Oblivion for doubting you.

Here is what maple needs.

Free shops to sell stuff *even if they have like 4 slots..and look like cardboard boxes*
Free search for shops *limit one per hour?*
A quest to change sp used. *make it very difficult*
More comical weapons that are non cash shop *no more fun weapons after 30 =(, thinking of leather purse for example*

As for the weapon effect idea. Maple is 100% picture based so yea they would have to either remake every weapon that had that effect or have a mask over your weapon to add a single effect for all types.
(perhaps a cs effect that changed the swing effect?)

Well, dont Crusaders and White Knights do things like this? Im not 100% Sure about this because i never really looked at WK and saders, but dont thay have skills that say...slow/stun monsters, or add Fire/Ice/lightning dmg?
SO, that kinda takes out w classes right there.

Umm...
wizards have Slow skill- AoE decreasing movement speed.
ice attacks freeze for some time.
poison attacks deal attack over time.
Assassin's Drain is lifesteal.
Warriors 3rd job get various debuffs (like Armor Crash ect.)
Mages can Seal enemy skills
and more.

Giving these skills to weapons would be kinda redundant, and quite unfair too- for example a wizard would need to spend 20 SP to Slow his opponents. Warrior- just use a mace or whatever had that effect.
Same reason there are no elemental weapons or stars, Wizards and Knights would still spend SP to get elemental attacks, other classes would just change equips and have the same bonus for free.

Your right, White knights have the ability to add an element in their attack.

Adding those effects on weps will just unbalance the game and nullify lots of classes so yea, you have to redo the whole game to add effects to weps first.
