I tried looking but I couldn't find any games like it. So is there any games that are like Star ocean? Like, storyline and gameplay or maybe one of those?

Tales of Symphonia has similar battle, but the story's (WAY) different, and you can't really move in 3D on the battle map. I'm not sure about any of the other Tales games though, so you could check those out if you want.

There's also an RPG game that I've been addicted too lately, with a 2D real-time battle screen on the GBA, called Summon Night: Sword Craft Story. Though, you'd most likely have to use an emulator and find a translated ROM because I doubt they sell it in stores anymore. :-/

Tales of phantasia for PSX just got a translation patch so you can try that.

also des,the "you cannot kill an idea" thing is from V for vendetta.

Tales of Destiny 2/Tales of Eternia has an extremely similar battle system.

Most Tales games have a similar battle system, some of the later ones have a more-3d ish system that more closely resembles the ones in SO.

Oblivion or Morrowind could work too, they have an action based battle system with crafting skills and talents.

For story, i would go with Sci-fi JRPGs, most of them have the technology and fantasy mixture.

Tales of abyss. On lvl6 you learn free run so you can move through the whole field and has a better skill system. Rare to find in the stores tho...

I've not played Star Ocean, but I've heard .hack//G.U. (PS2) and Eternal Sonata (X-Box 360) are similar.

Eternal Sonata is the same combat-wise, but the story's a bit different. And the combat's more turn-based than it is full realtime. Still gotta love the game though! ^_^

Also, .Hack/ /GU is similar in combat again, but the story is WAY WAY WAY different than Star Ocean. And the combat gets a bit repetitive, but meh...

Surprising nobody has mentioned Rogue galaxy for this dude..

Rogue Galaxy is a RPG made by Level5. Same creators as Dark Cloud.. Really fun, very similar to Star Ocean.. It actually has alot more stuff then Star Ocean.. Check it out. It's probably at your local EB for about $40 CND.

Almost forgot about Rouge Galaxy, didn't think of that. Nor Eternal Sonata.

But yeah, you can pretty much turn to just about all the Tales games for sort of a Star Ocean-esque combat system. In terms of story--not so much.

Someone seems to forgot bout Radiata Stories but why not try Valkyrie Profile 2 Silmeria as well since its a good game as well

From what I've seen, Valkyrie Priofile 2 is very similar to Star Ocean. Almost all of Tri-Ace's RPG's have some similarities to Star Ocean.

Tales has similar combat systems, and has better stories. Tri-Ace totally ripped off the WTFplottwist from the Matrix. If you're gonna rip off a plot twist, you could at least rip off a good one.....

But yeah, the Tales games has excellent storylines for the most part. (Legendia is the only exception. The storyline phailed)

Radiata Stories has the same exact bettle system because its made by the same team... its fun once you get in to it. you can get tons of characters on your team...

Also, if you have a PS3 or are getting one in the future, you can wait for Star Ocean 4 to come out sometime later this year.

Lol you're a Lion fan? I suggest you to play ToD DC :D they got Lions side to play xD I finished that one already.
