Its a problem on your side. I have windows Vista Ultimate 64Bit and Maple Story runs fine. You just need to emulate it in WindowsXP.

You right click on the .exe for maple story.
Select Properties.
Compatibility Tab > Run as Windows XP Service Pack 2
But i didnt have problem with the installation...are you installing it as the admin?

If you have Vista running on 64 bit, you're fine. If you are running with 32 bit, you'll run into some problems.
Also check your compatibility:
(right click the MS icon > properties > compatibility > check "run this program in compatibility mode for Windows xp service pack 2 > check run this program as an administrator).
Although, the compatibility thing only helps with lags and disconnections as far as I'm aware...
Hope that helps!

That's odd. I run Vista 32bit and I'm running it fine. Cyraan and Yoon both beat me to it; but that's the main method for making it work.
Just make sure you run the program as an administrator. Otherwise, the program's not going to be given the authority to install. Even if you are logged on as an administrator, it's still good to right click the icon, and select 'Run as Administrator'. Of course, you're going to need the password.

I've never had any issues with Vista. I know others who've come up with all these issues... I guess I'm just one of those few lucky ones without any problems?

Yeah, I would uninstall and re-install MS. Make sure you're right clicking on the MS mushroom icon, not the MSsetup icon.

The problem im having is with the setup i can't get that to start the instalation wizard.
I don't have a mushroom icon to right click.
Sorry if i wasn't clear.
EDIT
i've also tried redownloading the setup but it doesn't help

I can't seem to think of the problem, so I'm going to go a little bit drastic, and suggest that you enable the 'super secret' administrator account. In this account, you'll be able to run anything, without even getting the UAC prompt. To enable this account, log in as an administrator, and click on start. Type "cmd" into the search box, and then right click the CMD icon that will pop up. Type in the administrator password, and the SMD should run. In the CMD that is running as an administrator, type
Net user administrator /active:yes
Into the box. Then reboot, and you'll be faced with a new 'Adminstrator' account. There is no password for this account, so just log on. Then download the MS Setup again, and run it. If ever you want to get rid of this Administrator account, just replace 'Yes' with 'No'. Don't forget to right click the program and selecting 'Run as Administrator' even when you're logged onto as an Administrator.
Of course, what I suggested is a little drastic and might take some time, so just try everything we've suggested again.
-Be sure you're logged in as an Administrator, and click 'Run as Administrator'
-Remember to run the program in compatibility with Windows XP SP2
It's odd that your MSSetup was only 243MBs. I thought the file was over 500MBs...

Uhm, I don't know what you did, but I would have to agree with Cy and everyone. I just downloaded maple (yeah, I got vista) and played it. Of course it says something about this program being malicious and what not, but I just continued and pressed 'run program.' Best of luck to you, Wolf.

Zac got a new computer? xD
If all else fails use VMWare. If you computer can handle vista, then it should be able to handle VMWare, pm if you need help.
EDIT: Just so you know, VMWare is Virtual Machine. It's like you're using Vista, but you have a window opened up with Windows xp. Just Imagine two computers in one.

I was going to suggest that next. Keep in mind that you're running two operating system in one, and if you're computer isn't that great, you will experience a lot of lag.
Wolf, have you tried disabling your firewall?

Awww, I typed that 'Administrator' thing for nothing. Thanks a lot.
No, I still love you. I'm really glad it works. I'm guessing you just had a problem downloading the entire file, which is why you couldn't install Maple Story (Since you're missing the needed files). Do keep us updated.
