I've been noticing your pine to become a massive conglomerate in the MMO fanaticism that has swept the nations of the world that inhabit children who live under guardians with disposable incomes.

But you figure such a seemingly MASSIVE MMO, one in which I can find their products being sold in common convenience stores like 7-11 or Target could get a proper and functional means of Technical fucking support! A call center or some thing!

Any way, this topic is not to complain about the injustices that ensue when the 'gamer' world attains a fancy to capitalism, it's a technical issue I've been having on my Maplestory client and no source (ESPECIALLY not the official tech support guide) has been able to aid me.

Let me Preface my issue with the following: I run on Windows server 2003

First, let's start with the problem. When ever I open up my fully patched maplestory and get past the Gameguard, it gives me a pop up error:

Failed in finding proper screen mode for Gr2D

This appears to be a common problem. though, my problem seems to be different because every solution that has appeared upon searching for answers, I have tried, with no success.

I have tried:
1) Going into my maplestory directory and running setup.exe
2) I have gotten the latest DirectX
3) I have updated my driver. I have a Radeon 8500 Series
4) I have made sure my windows DEP is not blocking maplestory
5) And, yes, I have restarted my computer!

Where do I go from here? Why does it have to be this difficult?

P.S. The only reason I have been partial to posting on these forums and not a tech forum is because I have an established post count and perhaps a reputation, at least.

Perhaps posting this in the maple story section would be better?

Plus; Massive MMO makes you sound like an idiot.

Massive Massively Multiplayer Online?

Instead of going to maplestory forums, try contacting maplestory support?

This error is usually do to not having the proper video card drivers installed.
Which video card do you have? And have you installed the correct drivers from the manufactures website?

Nope, you failed to see my intentions. I meant what I said, a massive MMO, as in, a massive contender to other MMO's.

I figured. Oh well.

Did you not read my first 3 paragraphs? They don't have a technical support! They have a website with an FAQ and a search engine.

Number 3 in my list, bud.

Then don't play the game. If they don't provide help you then they don't deserve another player.

You don't need to explain.

You run Windows Server 2003, an operating system which most MapleStory players don't use. Have you tried using Microsoft's attempt at a compatibility mode on the game's executable?

Right click the icon and go to Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab.
Under "Compatibility Mode", tick the box stating "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP", or something similar.

If you don't like it here, then don't post. You seem to have developed a strong desire to express your dislike of the community. It's not perfect, I can't be online all day. Capice?

Number 3 in my list, bud.

You do know that you won't get any help being a giant prick.

I asked you about your video card again because I assumed that since you are using a server operating system to game that you don't have a clue wtf you are talking about.

So, whatever, fix it yourself. I don't care anyway since MS sucks.

I really meant my PS comment as an explanation as to why I'm not on some tech forum asking this but rather on a gaming forum, which I believe are totally different things.

But it would seem that way, in all honesty though, this community has helped me through a lot of rough times, a refuge, if you will.

I like to make fun of people here and there, probably because if this forum was a real life scenario I would be laughing or backing away. But being the person I am, would I actually ever post here if I didn't like it?

The compatibility thing isn't helping, also.

How is he being a prick?

I guess it was the short and sweet reply, that was slightly sarcastic.

I also don't like the fact that he assumed I know nothing about computers since I'm running on windows server 2003. Uhm, you know, computers have multi-capabilities.

What ever. I ran setup.exe. Didn't work. I changed the compatibility. That did not work.

It's like this. There are two ways to identify the OS. Kernel version, and full name(ie: XP, 2003, etc).
Most programs go by kernel version. The 32bit 2k3 is the same kernel as XP, so programs work just fine between the two, unless the programmer went not by the kernel version and instead went by the OS name, which is retarded, but is how it is.

Unless the installer is in multiple files, and one of those files is used for identifying the OS and seeing if it's compatible, and you are able to edit that file to allow it to install onto 2k3, you are stuck.

To put it simply, it's because programmers are retarded and you are running 2k3.
What I used to do for a while, when running 2k3 is have XP on dual-boot, just give it enough space to install, and then via XP I would install the programs that I couldn't in 2k3, and then just ran them under 2k3. Worked most of the time. But in the end I just kinda got frustrated and took a copy of XP and modified it's installer so it's much more stream-lined. Not as good as 2k3, but I'm happy with it.

Oh, and that they limit the site to IE when there is not a single piece of active X content on the site, shows how retarded the people that are managing the game are.
I was able to get the site to think that firefox was IE once, and viewed the site, and it displays perfectly. There are no issues. They just have all other browsers blocked... well, just cause, I guess.

And yea, moved to different the right section.

Haha. Why does FabiaN reply to any computer problems in the Maple Story section, rather than the general? This is funny.:p

Anyways, I would just do what FabiaN typed. He's the "smart" one.

If you hadn't noticed the only reason he replied to this was because it WAS in the general section.

Was it? OH!!! You're totally right. Thanks for reminding me. I guess he'll never truly show up here.
