Yeah, I'm pretty late with it, but I just started watching the anime. Note, its the Japanese version. 10 episodes in, and I'm hooked. I thought I wouldn't like the series at first. Its something pretty different from what I usually watch in my anime selections.

When I'm done with Kateikyoshi Hitman Reborn. I didn't like the first few episodes, but I keep hearing how godly it [Death Note] is, regardless of how many times I protest the idea. :-/

The only episode of Death Note I saw was on Adult Swim and it was the first episode.
After that it just seems boring to me for some reason...
I saw the movie though lol it's nice.

Don't see how it's spoiling to mention that L snuffs it. It would kind of negate Light's main motivation for damn near forever if he didn't get to toast L. Hm.. I probably wouldn't do Misa.. she has a little too much of a Stephen King's Misery vibe thing going.

Adult Swim is on like.. 16 today I think, I wasn't too excited about the start of some sorta business man story arc.. Damned Rem and her giving away evil books.

To tell the truth, the series goes down hill after Near and Mello are introduced. That's just me though. Those episodes just aren't as suspenseful or awesome as the previous ones.

Of course.. up until then, I had fits of evil laughter whenever Light did something nefarious.. at that point, I laughed harder.

Death Note caused a killing in Belgium, and a man claimed he was Kira.

USA Death Note might be banned as well if a problem like this occurs.

Wow I just finished episode 2 and holy hell im hooked. It was so so at the start but once you learn about L and Kira guy it's really good.

*Edit* This is possibly one of the most cranial mangas i have ever read
cranial means smart, intelligent. The crimes are perfectly set up by Raito so far, and I'm loving it

Ah man, that one episode when Light tricked the fiancee into telling her real name was amazing. I was actually laughing with him when he was like "Oh this? I'M KIRA!". Then the evil/cool music starts playing, and the most shocked expression comes to the fiancee's face. Then she walks away, and he keeps asking her if she wanted to talk to his dad and stuff. She kept rejecting, and you see the stairway to the noose. Light and his evil ways! WIN.

IMO, once that Yotsuba group got ahold of the notebook, the plot is starting to fail. Its after ep 17-18. I really only liked it when it was L vs Kira. This anime went from dark, kinda humorous at times, and serious, to a plot about business men trying to be the best corporation on Japan.

Yeah, but did you see the special directors cut ending? It was ****ing awesome. Shows a part with Ryuk talking about Light and shit.

Also, the other scenes that were left out are on youtube too, I haven't seen them yet but they look cool. :D

there isint any new death note series anounced, and i doubt there will be. =/
though the director's cut ending made me kinda meh. the manga dint have it, so, makes me feel like they added it due to people not liking the ending, even though it was absolutely amasing. other reason they could have added it, milking the franchise, wich is never good.

well, the third movie just came out. so there's always a chance they had to get that out of the way.

I thought DN was very very good and original until about episode 10-13, I started watching it when the anime first started availability of download and stopped around 17 I think. It lost it's touch, it's like they were just draaaagging it on and throwing in new characters to keep the pulse going or add new content that wasn't needed. Turned in to an average anime, using the same old cliches.
