Civilizations are good games

there are some multiplayer ones like Dufus and Wakfu, but i don't really know much about them.

I do suggest joining Shika :D Even though it's British, the community is english-only. While Rushu and Rosal are international, most of the players are between French and BRs :-/
I do believe there's a new North American version though, you can check it out :D
The game itself is pretty good, but saddly enough you kinda need to subscribe after Lv. 40 or so, if not, it will be pretty hard to level XO

Heroes of Might and Magic III is the best of the series, and it's Tactic/Rts for PC. It's old but meh, the game is hella addictive.

There was a foreign Ragnarok Online Tactics (it's not online) that I fairly enjoyed.

The language barrier is kinda large though.

If you want good RTS games you should try Warcraft 3 and Civilization 4 those are some great games.

He means like a tactical rpg, I would think. Not an RTS game, those are unfortunately abundant.

QFT. Heroes 5 is also pretty good too, but not as addictive as 3.

silent storm...... although its a war squad base tatics, pretty fun game.

Try Fallout: Tactics and, if you want to go to one of the best old-school games ever, X-COM UFO Defense.

those are the best and most for stradgy games... uhm...

if you have a ps2 i suggest getting disgaea 1 and 2 and Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity.

if you have a DS (bad choice) get FF: T A2 (or get a ds emu.)

if you have a GBA (or VIsual Boy) get FF: T A

I would definately try Dofus...it is exactly like FF:T. I played it for a while and I've gotta say it is pretty fun ^^. The only thing I sugget you watch out for, is that some players can be very...Up there own arses. So be careful of that.

I would choose:

Heroes of might and Magic 3 or + (HMM5 is not as good and need high requirements - considering when it was launched)
Fallout Tactics
X-COM series (terror from the deep onwards)

Battle for Wesnoth is probably one of the best freeware turn-based strategy games. I'd describe it as a cross between Fire Emblem and Advanced Wars. There are multiple races to play, units will level up, single player story mode, online multiplayer, and more. Great game, and once again, its free. But, I guess its more strategy than tactics.
