Anyone wanna recommend some anime movies.
It shouldn't be related to any series.
I'd prefer if it was made more recently and it has to have english subs.
Some I've seen:
Paprika
Tokyo Godfathers
Millennium Actress
Perfect Blue
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Grave of the Fireflies
Or if you can't think or any movies, mind suggesting some series under 50 episodes that are NOT OVERRATED.
Ones that few people know about.

Mmmh. Anything Satoshi Kon (It seems you got that covered xD)
- Mind Game
- Tekkon Kinkreet
- Akira (Even though it's old...it's amazing)
- Steamboy (The CG is astounding)
- Blood: The Last Vampire
- Jin Roh
About the series, is there something in particular you would prefer?

Mmh well. Im watching black lagoon right now. It's okay, kinda mainstream but meh. Welcome to the NHK is really nice, and most people I know never heard of it. Paranoia Agent too (but it's quite short) =].
Edit: I saw Kemonozume recently, which I thought was pretty good (I like that kinda of artstyle ;3). Oh and Loveless if you don't mind Shonen-Ai. =D

check out "Mind Game"
very thought provoking insight on how people value their lives.it will certainly change outlook on life, through very artistic and bizarre means.
"Midori" - horror/drame genre
Where to begin? First of all, Midori is a rather hard film to classify. It`s anime, but it`s not. Anime is known for being rather limited, but this film takes limited to a whole new level. It`s closer to a kami shibai or paper play, a type of one-man entertainment that was popular in pre-WWII Japan. Maruo`s original comic is in fact an adaptation of a kami shibai, so it`s an appropriate analogy. And the remarkable thing is that this anime version really is a one-man entertainment: every drawing you see in the 52 minute film was drawn by one person, thereby making it true to the spirit of the original - a modern kami shibai. Attempting such a thing is pretty much pure insanity. It wound up taking this person five years to make the film. The madman in question is one Hiroshi Harada 原田浩.

"Midori" - horror/drame genre
While searching for info, I found something rather funny about it :
Trivia:
Director Hiroshi Harada drew every single frame of Midori, it took him five years.
Midori was banned from being shown in Japanese theaters by Narita Customs, although censored prints are still circulated.
Harada refuses to release Midori on video, and has made showings of the film as interactive as possible until they eventually evolved into a form of performance art.
Why was it banned?

The story revolves around Claus Valca and Lavie Head, a young courier pilot and his navigator, and their adventures in the floating world of Prester. In this romantic sky world based on stylized Victorian fashion and society, two countries, Anatole ("East" in Greek) and Dysis ("West" in Greek), (sometimes phonetically rendered as Anatoray and Disith), are engaged in a long and bloody war under the supervision of the mysterious Guild. Claus and Lavie, piloting their vanship (a small wingless aircraft) find themselves involved in a plot surrounding a mysterious little girl named Alvis Hamilton, whom they must deliver as "cargo" to the much-feared neutral battleship "Silvana".

All ANIME series under 50 episodes are much more richly contented and concentrated to the series you fell in love with from the beginning. The ones that go past 40+ or 50+ tend to be full of fillers and adding new characters that you had no previous foreshadowing of, and it turns the series in a different direction.
Movies:
Akira, of course, is a classic.
Spriggan isn't bad, but it's also not great.
I have a couple more, but they are fairly old.
8 Man After
Demon City Shinjuku
Casshan (There's a live action movie of this)
Wrath of the Ninja
I'd also like to extend the promotion of Ninja Scroll.

I would like to change the topic a little bit.
Can you name some directors of recent anime films?
I've seen all films by these...
Makoto Shinkai
Satoshi Kon
