Can't think of a favorite guitarist. But, one that I dedicated my practices to is Jimi Hendrix.

Also, the bass guitarist from S.o.a.d...he's ****ing cool.

Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Adam Jones, Mikael Akerfeldt, John Squire, Jonny Greenwood, James Hetfield, Billy Corgan, Ihsahn etc. I have many I like.

I separate them into people I like just cos I enjoy what they create, and appreciation for technical skill (Less important).

Nobody forgot him, he's just no one's favorite guitarist.
I haven't seen anyone mention Satch or Vai. Or Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman... lots of people weren't mentioned.

Because they probably aren't anybody's favourites, either.

I respect Satriani more than most, but he doesn't write music I like, so I can't say he's a fav in that sense. He's one of the best, he's not a fav.

Are we naming our favourites, or are we naming people who are factually, technically skilled? Because nobody would mention Prince, the man who is so skilled that he caused Steve Vai to spit his coffee out in shock due to playing Eugene's Trick Bag upon the second time he heard it.

Hahaha, as if that detracts from the fact that he was considered (and still is by the majority of guitarist) the best ever anyway.

He DIED just after mid-twenties. Most guitarists are still learning at that age. He was already considering the world's best by the world's best at the time, by his early-ish 20s.
