TBH it basically just looks like theyve added bloom/specular lighting and reflective water, but I hope they add more and I actually might start playing it again, the graphics are so aged and atlantean seemed to lag major ***

The update hasn't been implemented yet. I saw somewhere on the AO forums that it should be added to the game soon. I imagine the character models will look different aswell, as the whole engine is changing.

All the Vids that are out are just works in progress in fact i think the first vid was just new terrain, textures and lighting effects since then they have release the odd screenshot of things they have done. They are going to replace all the models terrain, textures everythings with new ones, also the engine is the same one they used on Age of conan as far as i know.

It have been posted a few months ago. . . Also when this will be implemented, the game will be P2P, you know it wasn't meant to be F2P forever, they're just trying to add a reason to play this game over other mmorpgs...

Well it has the right mechanics and gameplay to be p2p, but it fell behind graphicly. I know they said it wont be f2p forever but they keep adding a year or 2 each time it gets near to the date they claim it will go p2p again. Honestly I hope they keep it f2p after this update, and looking around quickly, it seems theres been no official anouncement that the game will go p2p again (but looking at that water and stuff, it looks like it will).

Hey, maybe they can get the characters in the creation screen to look like their grounded rather than hovering!

I don't think it's going full P2P after the engine update, dev notes dont say it anywhere, and Fr00bage has been going on for 2+~ years, usually people who are froobs eventually buy the expansions and sub, and fr00bs make some money for AO anyways through ads, so I doubt they'd sever froobies

Its a complete engine rewrite. They're going from a pre Dx7 game to a Dx9-10 based game. Meaning its going to use less CPU power to render most of the game and utilize your graphics card more than it does now.

Rumours say... The engine will be released in August... But I would expect it closer to December.

Well it's been 3 years I believe since they went f2p on the original Anarchy Online. Each year it was free they were spreading rumors that it would become p2p by the end of the set f2p year. Still if it's f2p till date, so I don't think that this update will result in Anarchy becoming p2p.

i heard its great game, so i tried it...but the graphics upset me and i didnt explore much...maybe with this update i will give it another try. i believe the expansions will be p2p still, but it would be great if they unlock more expansions to f2p players as they are adding new ones (i heard its constantly updating)

Like I said, sorry if this has been posted. Some people still didn't know about it. Anyways, the update looks interesting, I recently started playing AO a few days ago and I think they changed the camera controls or something because it's so much easier to move and click buttons now. It's pretty fun so far.

Why the hell do you think they made their game temporarily free? You don't think they had plans in the future that would make the game pay to play? Use your brain! They obviously couldn't appeal to anyone to pay for the game so they had to upgrade the game in order to do such a thing. This game WILL be P2P.
