~If you hate spoilers than dont read my point-of-view after the update quote~

4 July 2006 - Security and free-to-play update - the Stronghold of Security
Why not learn how to keep your account secure whilst having fun in game? Now all of our players can, be they members or free players, level 3 to 126. When the Barbarians moved their mining operations to the centre of the village, little did they know that they would unearth the strangest dungeon yet encountered in RuneScape. Haunted by lost spirits which seem to have taken over the doors and infested with beasts never seen before, it makes an adventure and a half simply getting through each of the four levels.

The doors in the area will ask you questions about account security, and the best ways to make your account safe, such as using recovery questions. Take your time to think about the questions they ask and the answers available, and you’ll get through the dungeon in no time at all. Remember their advice, and you can learn a thing or two on the way. After all, secure accounts are the best kind of accounts!

You can find out more about it by picking up a book in your local general store and investigating the first part of the dungeon thoroughly. As well as some new creatures and talking doors you might also pick yourself up a reward or two! Plunder the treasures of the Stronghold of Security to find new boots, a new sceptre, 4 new emotes and a whole heap of golden shiny things. Be aware that like any other dungeon with monsters, if you die you WILL lose your equipment, so come prepared for combat.

Well, the update is out and gotta say that it was a great idea 'not' to get too worked up over it. That is if you already know how to secure your account. If you dont than it could prove helpful to you.

Anyways, the new things comeing with the Tower are.

1) Gold (I received 10k on my main free account)
2) Emotes
3) Picking a pair of shoes from two choices (Picked the warrior-looking pair. Both pairs give the same stats)
4)And a Sceptor that can warp you to the Barbarion Village 5 times. You have to build it by killing monsters on each of the floors. Getting 4 parts I think. Since I, personally, didn't bother trying to kill the level80+ monsters.

Overral the tower isnt that great in itself. Helpful to the newer players and that's about it. The higher level players can just run through and get the items or they can establish a new training spot. Since, you'know, they have soe pretty high level monsters on the last floor. Not 'super' high, like in the 60s-80s high.

It was lame. I ran through in half an hour, got all the emotes, and then i never came back. THe scepter is useless, and retard could answer the questions, not impressed at all.

Of course, it's free to play. What would you expect? Some epic dungeon taking days to complete with items worth millions of gp at the end?

Something taking at least half an hour with a semi-decent reward at the end

it only took me 10 mins to get through and i was escorting my friend through the higher monsters (he is lvl 27) it wasnt worth the 10 mins, and the reward at the end was gay.

It looks good though :D

I just finished it, it was short but it was fun. Plus the boots at the end are better than leather boots I suppose :p

Lol they might be better than the leather, but still gay, and not better than the member's colored boots.

Theres no point in it,unless you want some crappy boots that are pretty much the best free player boots in the game. The sceptar is retarded if you can use tele to varrock, the monsters are for noobs, and the questions are to repetitive.Im like "What the hell?"When I had to make recovery questions to get to the last reward, which SUCKED big time.

11 July 2006 - Fairy Tale II - Cure a Queen

The Fairy Queen should be awake and back in charge of the Lost City by now, but what is happening in Zanaris? Why hasn't the Fairy Godfather abdicated the throne? What is happening to all the fairy inhabitants and where has Fairy Nuff gone? Can you rise to the challenge of using the Fairyrings to search the other planes and Cure the Queen in the second part of the Fairy Tale trilogy?

In this week's new quest, the player will unlock the magic of the Fairyrings, giving them access to the biggest transport network in the game so far. Pay attention to what you're doing though, it's very easy to get confused if you're not careful! We recommend you take a few teleport spells with you, just in case. Several of the rings are actually situated in other extra-planar dimensions, just like Zanaris, so be prepared for a few surprises along the way.

Players who succeed in Fairy Tale Part II will be rewarded with thieving and herblore XP, as well as a chunk of XP in any skill of their choice. More importantly though, they will be one step closer to receiving that elusive reward that Martin the Master Gardener promised so long ago...

We'll be releasing a Knowledge Base guide to the Fairyrings in a few days, to give you time to explore them for yourself, and fully enjoy the randomness of fairy magic.
