I personally like Steelies because they are cheaper. But the 2 w.atk turns me away. Also, they're the only star that doesn't look like a star making them somewhat cooler.

Ilbi's are just awesome but expensive as hell. They're like flying rocks of death. And how they come flying out of the tiny claw? I will never know.

i say illbis so u can sell for alot more steelys but on the other hand illbi prices r going down and alot more then steelys now

True, ilbi's do cost a lot less now. That's probably because of Hwabi's ( same atk... :-/ ) and Crystal Ilbis. But Crystal Ilbis are out of the picture because i'm not even level 1, let alone level 50. XD

Get steely's, I bought 4 ilbis and ended up selling 3 keeping only one, now thinking of selling the last one.

Why?
Steelys are cheaper, only 2 atk below ilbis, might make a change but not that much if you really see it through; and not to mention...steelys are sexyXD.

Ilbis? The only reason why I would get them its cuz of the w.atk...no other reason; they only hold 800 stars minimum, other than 1k as in most of the stars. I dont like the way they look either.

Think about it, as when you buy stars...why would you buy 5 instead of 10? as long as you have the money to spend it all on ilbis and still have about 20mil for yourself...go ahead.

Like I said, only will buy ilbis if I have enough money for many ilbis; at lv's 50...about 6 ilbis Id say... 80+, idk maybe double it... or maybe even more than 12; Shadow partner is going to kill your stars.

My advice, unless you have like 50m+ get tobis, they are EXPONENTIALLY cheeper(800k compared to 5 mil per set) and getting steelies or ilbies with a small amount of money(AKA getting like 1-5 sets) is pointless really. D: If you have the money its obvious Ilbies>Steelies>tobis(know there are some expceptions) but if your semi rich get tobis.
Its just not worth it to spend that much money on stars till you have your other Equipment upgraded(as its easier to get a high attk glove or claw then to upgrade you intire use inv to stars.)

that way you have a crap load of stars with minimal recharge time

Lol are you looking for an excuse to buy ilbis? xD. Well, how much money do you have to use on stars in total. if you tell us that, then we'll be better able to assess your problem.

Without my budget, I just want to hear a good thread going on about which is still better. I wanted to participate in a couple SW.net threads but why not bring the fun here? :3

Basically it falls into your grinding style. Are you like me? Do you grind for 30 minutes, get bored and go do something else? Or do you grind for hours on in, without breaks/stop? If you grind for hours, Steelies/Tobis are for you. If your like me, then Ilbis are your best bet.

Steelies last longer, making them better for long grind sessions, sacrificing weapon attack for duration (200 stars may not seem that much, but in bulk it'll add an hour or more to your training time). If you don't grind for very long, Ilbis are very good for you. More weapon attack, in my opinion they are cooler looking, which draws your attention and might make you grind for longer.

Theres my view on it. For the way I train, Ilbis>Steelies. For some people, Steelies>Ilbis.

Of course Ilbis are way better than Steelies. I mean think about it, 2 extra wep attk. Trust me it helps a lot. Why do you think 2 attk pink capes are so much cheaper than 4 attk ones? If you have the money, definentaly get the ilbis. It could mean the difference between killing something in 2 hits vs.3. Not to mention once you get shadow parter, thats 4x the power that you will get from each star.

I say get the same number of ilbis and steelies. then, you know when you run out of ilbis, your half way through your stars. trust me, as a hermit you burn through stars super fast.

Ilbis give more attack, expand your use slot to max, buy about 30 ilbis and you're good to go.

Well, without a budget, obviously ilbis are better. But wolfs right in saying that tobis are best for a 10m or so star budget, steelies and tobis for 20-25, steelies only for like a 40m and ilbis only for like a 90m budget. Thats just my opinion, seeing as how I hate having to go back to town to recharge. id much rather train until I needed to repot or go to FM and just recharge while im there. I hate going solely for a recharge.

Depending on your lvl, 2 atk may or may not make that much of a difference. Sure a 4 atk costs around 40-50 mil more, but thats just for high lvls who want THE best gear around. That 2 atk can be made up by upgrading your claw or wg by more. It is much cheaper to up your wg from 6-8 or 8-10 or your claw than to buy enough sets of the next lvl of stars to last you. Thats why it is recommended to only use ilbis when you can afford 10 sets or more. Tobis ftw

Well, it depends how much money you have. 2 att wont make a difference in your training at all.. esp at your lvl. Even like at lvl 17x or somthing, 2 att is only probably about 100-150 more damge per star. When i was training at squids, using steelies made training no more faster then when I used my ilbis. When you start using Shadow Partner to train, you're going to be burning stars very fast, so you'll need at least 10 sets of stars if u dont wanna be going back to town every 45 mins. You should first upgrade your claw before thinking about upgrading your stars. Quantity>Quality Claw>WG>Overall>stars

In that case, I would recommend saying screw it to ilbis, upgrading the wg, and then buying steelies. Since your probably jsut gonna sell it back later, watch inflation and stuff. Dont be too eager to re-sell the stars.

If your gonna go for wg, I would either choose an 8 attk or 10 attk one. In scania a 10 attk wg is around 19m. 11 atk will bring you up a lot, and 10 attk is sufficient. 8 Attk if i can remember is like 7-8m i think.

I remember I built my own 8 atk wg in Broa. I think I can manage building my own WG again. And also I wanna keep stars and a nice claw just in case I need to switch for some God forsaken reason.

Hell, you don't need good stars if you're gonna be a Bandit. Get Tobis if you really want to, but I'd advise not focusing on stars at all (Stick with Subis, you're only gonna use them til 3x or 4x, whatever, it's not a long wait). Work on the equipment that you'll actually keep.

The question is, how many sets of stars do you need? (and what glove/claw you can afford)

Let's say Steelies=7M, Illbi=13M.
If you need just one set, then getting Illbi you pay 6M for +2 attack bonus.
If you need 2 sets, you pay 12M for +2 bonus
If you need 3 sets, you pay 18M for +2 bonus
... and if you need 4000 stars then you need 4 sets of steelies for 28M, or 5 sets of Illbi for 65M, or in other words, you pay 37M for +2 attack bonus.

Given that, you need to consider if upgrading your work glove, or claw, would be more efficient.

For example 10ATT WG+ 2 sets of Steelies would be cheaper than 8ATT WG and two sets of Illbi.
And 11ATT WG+4 Steelies would be cheaper than 9ATT WG and 5 Illbi.

As an added bonus, the work glove would work with your dagger.

The answer is obvious. Tobis clearly are the way to go. Why waste about 100mil+ on stars when the PQ still only takes 5 minutes?

There isn't really much to debate here, if you're asking a question without a budget in mind, ilbis are better. End of story. However if you want a question answered on what stars would be best for your budget, then there is a topic to discuss.

With the fact that you're going to be a Bandit in the end, Tobis are better. The attack will make little to no difference, at lower levels if I'm not mistaken you'll benefit more from LUK then weapon attack.

Theres no much grind these days for low lvs, now we have many pqs that give much exp.

My opinion stands, it's not worth the money to have good damage with stars if your main weapon WILL be a dagger. I mean, 1 - 30 takes 5 days for the average player, 30 - 40 should take the same amount of time. Think about it, you're spending 8.8m on damage that will last you 30 levels, 14 of which you'll be PQing; and like Ryok said, damage in a PQ doesn't really make any difference, since you have three to five other people helping you, who most likely have average damage as well, at the least.

If you're going Banditsin, don't buy any stars stronger than Ilbis unless you already have a Sin. Since the lower levels (10-70 basically) are based on Pqing, you don't even really need Steelies. Instead of Steelies, get either a decent Dex Sauna or 7-8 ATT Wg with some Tobis as your main stars. One steely wouldn't hurt, but seeing how you'll mainly be pqing in your early levels, it doesn't matter what you use. And in case stars deflate, you wouldn't want to buy Ilbis/Steelies now while they're pricy and lose money when you'll need it for a godly Wagner/K Fan. You should save your mesos until May for dagger scrolls to scroll the Maple Anniv. Weapons.

Meh, you seemed fine in this thread(won't speak for others) but you shoulda taken the tobi thing a bit more seriously D: steelies+sindits= waste of money :( cause its 2 attk you could get on like a cape or something.

Well hopefully the economy will take a turn and jack up the prices with the new MTS so i can sell my steelies for a good amount later on. XD

the 2+ atk you get from the next set of stars is not a big increase, especially if you have a high atk claw. I do plenty of damage without ilbi. the extra damage that you gain from using them is not worth the cost so you are better off hunting them.

Yes, because it adds +2 attack to all of your stars, and your dagger you'll inevitably be using when you're a Bandit.

2atk in anything, by it's self is not much. what i'm saying is that if you have a 60atk claw and a 15 atk wg and and 12 atk warrior elixer, plus an atk cape you are not going to benefit much by using a set of stars that increase your attack by 2+. you are better off saving your money for a godly claw or dagger/cutter(or try to scroll one yourself, people HAVE been lucky) than spending it on a bunch of ilbi especially when you can find them from a number of monsters nowadays. you are better off waiting for more of them to come into circulation so the price goes down or go hunt your own.
