It's not even going to hit earth buddy. Also even if it's landing on an ocean. A 6km large asteroid will pretty much turn earth into another glaciation.

I wasn't saying that it would hit Earth matter-of-factly (in fact I highly doubt it) just making a minor prediction of what would happen if it did. I also doubt six kilometers is enough to freeze the world.

Meteors, Asteroids and other space debris fly by earth daily. This one is just being announced because of it's enormous size. I mean you can't really miss something that's 6km flying around in our atmousphere.

You do know a lot of meteors actually do come but most of them get broken up the Earth's atmosphere and since they are coming at fast speeds, heat breaks them apart as well.

nuking and everything isn't going to destroy it, the only way we can do it is by moving the asteroid out of the way by bombing it so it flys another direction or so it misses earth by a little.

but within 1000 years when we get the technology strong enough to destroy the asteroids, the small shards wont even hit earth, it will burn up in the atmosphere before it reaches the surface.
