I need to take some video of me playing some games for my clan, and I was wondering what your preferred program is. At the moment I use Fraps, but it gets a bit laggy.
I know that game cam and xfire are out there, but haven't used them.
What would you guys recommend.

Fraps, the lag is normal, every capturing program has that.

FRAPS if you have full version, and the lag is natural. It's gotta take all the screens that you are seeing as you play, compress them and save them somewhere. It's gonna cause lag, no matter what you use. You can try hypercam, and gamecam though I still reccomend fraps over them
hypercam i've got full version of fraps and hypercam both are good whats weird is i don't lag that much or at all when i run fraps
Don't use Xfire. A 6 minuet video on Xfire takes up 2 GBs. :hmm:

Thats because it's a raw video clip, like fraps does.
To lower the size of the video it needs to be optimized and re-encoded into a different format.
The reason why it's so big is that it would take a massive amount of computing power to optimize and do a different encoding on the fly, as you're recording. There isn't a home computer that could do all of that.
So, instead it gives you the raw data, which really is best(there is no missing data), and then you can optimize it to your liking.
And there will always be a little lag when using these programs. How much depends on how powerful your system is and the resolution of the game. It is encoding a video at the same time of playing a video.
