Unfortunately, since Heroes of Might and Magic is 1) a PC game you have to buy, and 2) Not browser-based, I'm going to recommend this other game, which is based on HOMM. It's a combination of flash and html, and is pretty fun, overall.

The english version is very, very new (less than 2 weeks), but has progressed far because the russian version was released a long time ago. GET STARTED BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE DOES!
