Hmm... I'm calling out the bredrans here. What are your favorite live rap lines?
I like this one from little wayne:
I am the beast
Feed me rappers or feed me beats
I'm untamed, I need a leash
I'm insane, I need a shrink
I love brain, I need a leech
Why complain on easy streets?
I don't even talk, I let the Visa speak
and, I like my sprite easter the pink
And my wrist special par but the mule is cooler
I have more jewels than your jeweler
Touch, and I will bust your medulla
That's a bullethole, it is not a tumor
Red light red light stop your rumors
I stay on track like a box of Pumas
Now just r-r-rock with Junior
I am the little big Kahuna, ya'dig
Ahh, dat is so live. From We Takin; Over.

rap sucks.
ROFL. For the most part I agree with ya.
I can't take rap seriously anymore. Most of it is either half retarded lyrics that are borderline non-english (even taking ebonics and slang into consideration), or just a 4 minute commercial for rims and gold teeth.
I don't know about you guys, but so much of the rap out there is stale as hell. The same catch phrases and shit used over and over so much I can barely tell the songs apart.
If I have to listen to another jack *** rapper talk about rims, grills and keepin it real I am gonna go crazy.

lolololol rap war
My favorite, which I'm not sure you would constitute as rap, would be Linkin Park.
My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine
In the back, he handwrote a quote inside
"When the rich wage war it's the poor who die."
But for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the song. :-/

Fatty Fat Stacks
So hood like the Cadillac
On the mint full of my babalance
Call an ambulance
To come and pick his *** up because a nigga never had a chance
They try to dance with a devil in the pale moonlight
Advance on the level that they can’t do right
Lay hands on a fellow like the man in blue lights
Woop, woop
Do it twice
You’re boy the B - I - G
I’m nicer than mc in your top three
You cocky?
I cock, Squeeze
Bust them things now you sloppy
Speed it up,slow it down, then screw it
Don’t bite the flow because I got that blew it
Run through the crew or some whole other new shit

Sylce, the last thing you should be doing is bringing up a Rap thread in a place where Rap is hated. Only about 15% of our community likes Rap, Me included.
People here stereotype Rap and do not listen to what really is Rap. What they see on T.V or hear on the radio is what they project as Rap.
Anyways, from that song, I preferred the line where Wayne said he'll bust your medulla.
Heres a line from a recent track Lloyd Banks was on..
"The game is sick, I'm the potion,
I-B Profin, and I flow like the ocean."

Really? I must be missing something.
majority of main stream rappers tend to sing about the following topics
-money/visa(platinum, or better)
-how much their watch cost
-how pricey their car is (usually, bentley, cadillac)
-how many diamonds they have on their spinning necklace
-how big their spinning rims are
-how tight their rhymes are
Its either that, or talkin bout *****es and ho's.

most people complain about rap because it mostly about money and ho's. but those rap songs are club music. something thats enjoyable to hear becasue it has a cool beat and sick flow. people take lyrics to serious.
if you want something serious, go watch the news.
i dont say gangsta music is boring but people complain alot because a song is not gangsta enough. realize there are a lot of rap styles.
and rap isnt always gangsta

Tupac
Please read these whole thing, I think the entire song has a lot of meaning to it
Why’d you slang crack? I had to
Why’d you slang crack? Cuz I had to
Why’d you slang crack? Cuz I had to
A nigga gotta pay the ****in rent
*Verse1* (Tupac)
Crazy, I gotta work with what you gave me, claimin I’ma criminal when you the one that made me
They got me trapped in this slavery
now I’m lost in this holocaust headin for my grave G
I told Sam he could **** the war, and got a busted jaw for sayin “**** the law”
And if you wonder why I’m mad, check the record
Whats a nigga gotta do to get respected
Sometimes I think I’m getting tested, and if I don’t say “yes” a nigga's quick to get arrested
That’s the reason I stay "zestin"(MIXING ERROR, 2 voices), I keep a vest on my chest incase the cops is getting restless
Walkin round ready to light shit up, and since my life is ****ed, some say I’m slightly nuts
Buck buck is the sound as I move up, other niggas pay attention when a fool bust.. huh..
They make a nigga be a killer, I used to be a dealer but they wanted to see who's realer
Now them same mother ****as wanna murder me, and I wonder if the lord ever heard of me
I need loot, so I’m doin what I do, and don’t say shit until you’ve walked in my shoes,
There was no other destiny to choose, I had nothing left to lose, so I’m singin the nigga blues
Hook
*Verse2*(Tupac)
Papa need brand new shoes, but what the **** can a nigga do, my little boy gotta eat too
So why must I sock a fella? Just live large like rocafella
And did you ever stop to think? I’m old enough to go to war but I aint old enough to drink
Cops wanna hit me with the book, and you hooked on my “I don’t give a ****” look
Makin rules, I’ma break em, no matter how much you make em, you show me bakin, I’ma take em
So don’t you ever tempt me, I’m a fool for my nigga, and my pockets stay HINTED
To my brothers in the barrio, you livin worse then the niggas in ghetto so
I give a **** about your language or complexion, you got love from the niggas in my section
You got problems with the punk police, don’t run from the chumps, get the pump from me
We aint free, I’ll be damned if I played a chip for a blonde haired blue eyed Caucasian *****
Down with my home boy rich, **** a snitch and groupie *** *****
And a nigga with a cellular phone, leave his baby at home so he can go out and bone(huh)
And you wonder why we blazin niggas, cuz you punks haven babies cant raise the niggas
And they damned to be **** ups too, drink 40s of brew, singin the nigga blues
Why’d you slang crack? Cuz I had too
Why’d you slang crack? Cuz I had too
Why’d you slang crack? Cuz I had too
And now I’m headin for the mother ****in' PEN

It Aint Hard To Tell by Nas
It ain't hard to tell, I excel, then prevail
The mic is contacted, I attract clientele
My mic check is life or death, breathin a sniper's death
I exhale the yellow smoke of buddha through righteous steps
Deep like The Shinin', sparkle like a diamond
Sneak a uzi on the island in my army jacket linin
Hit the Earth like a comet, invasion
Nas is like the Afrocentric Asian, half-man, half-amazin
Cause in my physical, I can express throuh song
Delete stress like Motrin, then extend strong
I drank Moet with Medusa, give her shotguns in hell
From the spliff that I lift and inhale, it ain't hard to tell
And Live At The BBQ Nas and Fatal
Street's disciple my raps are trifle
I shoot slugs from my brain just like a rifle
Stampede the stage I leave the microphone split
Play Mr. Tuffy while I'm on some Pretty Tone shit
Verbal assassin my architect pleases
When I was twelve, I went to hell for snuffin Jesus
Nasty Nas is a rebel to America
Police murderer, I'm causin hysteria
My troops roll up with a strange force
I was trapped in a cage and let out by the Main Source
Swimmin in women like a lifeguard
Put on a bulletproof nigga I strike hard
Kidnap the President's wife without a plan
And hangin niggaz like the Ku Klux Klan
I melt mics till the sound waves over
Before steppin to me you'd rather step to Jehovah
Slammin MC's on cement
Cause verbally, I'm iller than a AIDS patient
I move swift and uplift
your mind shoot the gift when I riff in rhyme
Rappin sniper, speakin real words
My thoughts react, like Steven Spielberg's
Poetry attacks, paragraphs punch hard
My brain is insane, I'm out to lunch God
Science is dropped, my raps are toxic
My voicebox locks and excels like a rocket

So, does anybody here have any idea what they're on about?
People either think all hip hop is about guns, *****es and bling, or they think 2pac is the pinnacle of meaning in hip hop lyrics, when he was just obvious.
God's Bathroom Floor by Atmosphere is one of the greatest lyrics ever, much less just hip hop.
Rap died with Tupac and Notorious! But yeah, it's really hard to find any rappers with lyrics that don't involve money cars and hoes.
Yeah, if you're a spoon-fed man or woman who lets M.T.V. tell them what's out there.
"It's hard to find good stuff if you just listen to the TV and don't bother to look.", yeah, that's how it works. You look, you get rewarded.

I especially love the white-boy rappers. Not saying white people can't rap, but the ones that I've seen suck horribly at it. -_-

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 time to blow back
The format is down pat rest assured that
It’s the Akil, Chali 2na you the mumma track
We always give you that
Stand or fear wrath
5, 4, 3, 2, 1 time to blow back
This is the soul jam victory chafer
Your whole damn fantasy aim
From the old trend Pickery Baker
That old man trickery changed the game
Put it in danger even invade your fame
My task is to try and excel past
The hell mast, the glamour and gliss
Can smell gas
And will the foul trash absorb the shell blast
Like that was the most bombed hotel
Like Bellfast
BOOM
Uh, my rhythm rebel I never fail
Just push it to the limit when I’m serving a whale
Yo custs and kill, roll up another ale
But can’t **** with this young tough black male
My hands on experience
No limit its top notched deliverance
Sound Boy killer shit
Protect the fame in the names of the innocent
Sparks the fame hard reign you cant extinguish it
The brothers of penmanship the pen they test to
I flow like the most sensitive parts in rest rooms
Even in west rooms are legends of Neptune
Investigation pending on making arrests soon
But until then, me look a corn way
I'm free to rock the mic like Rebecca Dekmauna
Incapable foreplay rappers do what the song say
If you should give it to them the wrong way
Yo
The format is down pat rest assured that
It’s the Akil, Chali 2na you the mumma track

Leave Omar Cruz and Question alone!!
They're trying their best.
But he can't hate on white people trying to rap, it just means there is a chance more hot lines will pop pop. O.o
Hey, I never said white people couldn't rap. Rap is a genre, and anyone can play any genre...it's just that the white rappers I've seen are really, really BAD at rapping. >_>

Stop... analyzin' criticizin',
You should realize what I am and start epidimizin'
Legitimate, I got the heart of the biggest lion
I'm confident like f**k em all, pull out my dick and ride it
My flow sick, so sick, it's like my shit is dyin'
It rains a lot in my city, because my citys cryin'
Because my citys dyin'
Still I emerge from all of that, I am a livin pion-eer, near sighted.
Fear God, not them
Steer my Robin Coupe through the streets of the boot... and
Soo-woop
And, then I leave blood in the boot, I leave a blood bath,
Sorry there's a tub in the boot, now where the drugs at?
Im twisted like the strings on shoe No nigga f**k that
I'm twisted like the string on a boot, now where New Orleans at?
I feel hip hop stole me like a bus pass
So in your possession, I, I must ask...

Mr. Lif - iPhantom first verse
Check it out
I been waitin', playin', for a long time
X amount of thoughts carried out in my mind
I turn on the TV, I see crime
Script written diligently and aired on time
Push the power button, now I'm to the tower somethin
Opened up my fridge and found nothin
Tipped to my room with an aura of gloom
Wishin' I could write another tune
But my hands are paralyzed, plus my eyes
Wanna shed tears, but it's not possible, there's
The burden of things I couldn't bear
Feelings weren't dealt with properly
Remorse follows me
With his good friend, the threat of poverty
Here's where I am, versus where I think I oughtta be
There's a certain chance I'm a victim of circumstance
I take a look at myself and at first glance
I see who I recently thought to be me
Based on identities public and private
Behold the radio pirate, ya nigga
A felon, chillin' with a gun to your melon
A pimp with his pockets swellin', a jester
A slave with wounds that fester, the wanna-be
Pre-med 3-D dread an academic reject
Hopin' to detect life, erect what god gave
Human laws are laid, we go to war, come back
And come up with more
I'm kind, friendly, your worst enemy
Charming, crass, and potentially
Dangerous, have you ever heard of such?
I'm invisible and impossible to touch

you guys are bashing this thread because......??
nobody disturbs you when you have your heavy metal threads or your goth or emo threads so wtf...people arent able to enjoy rap now?
even if people liked rap with no meaning to it music was meant to be enjoyed not to just sit there and comprehend every word...some people like to dance and hear the beat only some people like to listen to lyrics.....yes mainstream rappers are killing the music but underground ones are doing great
here are some of my favorites
lil wayne-all alone
"I Wake Up In The Morning Take A Knee And Thank God,
Then Go To The Mirror Look Myself In The Eyes
Today I Didn't Wake Up With A Woman On My Side,

I Just Remember The Moments, Call Me Kodak
and know That I Do Miss You But its your denial
That I Must Hold Against You
Since You Been Gone I Been All Alone
But Alone Is Steriods 'cause It Makes Me Strong-er
Her Gone In The Wind,
You Cheated On Godson Baby Girl That's A Sin
But I Forgive You, But I Can't Give You
Another Chance Ma, Youre In My Rearview
And I Put That Ring On Your Finger, I Was All In
But Now It's Just A Symbol Of What Could Have Been

1st rap isn't dead
2nd people act like Pac and Big where the gods of rap or something.Like NO ONE ELSE EXISTED.Gosh, then you got dudes out here contradicting themselves when they say they don't want to hear the girls, cars, money but then you had Pac and big rapping about the exact same thing.
I'm not hating on Pac or big, they can rap good but I can't really Identify with them on anything.I can make an exception for Pac cuz he balanced it out with his raps,if you know what I mean.
My favorite rappers are Lupe,Gem,Nas,A Tribe called Quest,Native Tongue,Eminem,Obie Trice, and a whole lot more.
"Love, got the windy city on my back
So I'm back on my grizzle like a bearskin rug
Put some lain on the floor blame it on the goat
Little rapper turn it out cause I'm very pluh
I convert I can work anywhere any word you can ask my brother huh
He'll concur that I'm sers with the worst with the man up above thank you very much
That I got what I got and I'm at where I'm at like an a in a circle with a pay little erkel
What they say when they see og from the f to the f to the amazing verbals
They race in circles like they raisin a gerbil
I race in a circle like I'm raisin a horse
I'm racin a porsche while they racin in place
They race in a cage I race on a course
COURSE
That case in the court did not defer the dream
I am still a raisin in sun raging against the machine"

YQr1u1l-rIU
[Abdominal]
I like to rap a lot so permit me to rap a little
My name is Abdominal I'll make you laugh and giggle
Just like a little schoolgirl when I'm touching the mic
Me and a crap rapper? Nothing alike
Cos they crap, and I'm not
Could you demonstrate? Why not
Let me take this little opportunity so soon you'll see
How you and me be different when it comes to fluency
The crowd be rooting me and booing thee
First to hit 3 lines that you be polluting the
Atmosphere with, you'll get subjected to scrutiny
Stupidly oblivious to the soon-to-be mutiny on the
Part of the crowd,,eventually even your crew will be like
"Abdominal is pretty damn good"
But that's what I've been trying to say man
Would you remove those bananas from your earholes and pay attention
In the long run this will bring everyone less tension
And I won't be forced to have to hit you with these vicious battle raps
But really less battle raps than straight up facts
Kinda like a news report
Untrue? **** you be this Jews retort!
You'll lose the sport, can't you see the predicament?
Nurse, gauze, and lots of ligaments
Victim sent courtesy of a friendly neighbourhood Abdominal
Doing his best to fill the hospitals
They say he's some sort of musical vigilante
On a one-man crusade to do away with anything even remotely wack
He rips the lips off of rappers and frees the tracks
We really can't thank him enough I'd love to shake his hand
Say thanks for taking a stand evacuating the land of the uncreative and bland
"Doctor is it true when they say that he's as handsome as a deity"
Like a chiselled greek god, plus nimble like a tree frog
But with the strength of 10 men, who each possess the strength of ten men!
"In other words the strength of 100 men?"
Nurse, please dont interrupt me when
I'm in the midst of a descriptive homage to this folk legend
Rumour has it that he's bench-pressing
At least 400 pounds and that's with the left arm alone!
What about the right? Writing poems
Simultaneously, insane ya can see but that's the type of mc that we're
Dealing with here, highly creative annunciation impeccable
Delivery style versatile very flexible breath control unparalelled
In his line of work his rhymes will hurt these spineless jerks
Yeah they'll still find the time to flirt, with all kinds of skirts
"He should try a nurse" keep your mind on your work
Like he keeps his mind on the verse when he's timing his words
You could set your clock to the rhyming ya heard eminating from between the two lips
Of the ABD-om-INAL, suckers think they swell
He'll be like "hmm pray tell"
They straight K-Tel wheras he be cold chilling
Steady knocking fillings outta mouths of super-villains
And then charging 'em for dental repairs
Lay em down gently in the dental chair
Fasten the bib, a real no-brainer
Next step in the procedure administer the novacaine
Or better yet a more effective anaesthetic
Like a pint of chilled rubbing alcohol for the vocally pathethic
Once theyre snorin the work commences by this
Blood-splattered, demented dentist
Dr. Abdominal extracting tongues, rendering wack rappers dumb
Some who look like they got a bit of endurance
Also get their lips sewn shut for assurance
I know it sounds harsh but he can't be sympathetic
In his war against the wackness it's an epidemic
Spreading over cities nations and continents
Abdominal heaven-sent antidote, through dopeness
With a 'M' on my chest, for microphonist
You guys HAVE to listen to this.

Will somebody call me a cab?
I swallowed another tab
I might overdose under the circumstance
So betta yet call me an ambulance
[Chorus]
Cause I'ma dopefiend baby, I don't know why
All I wanna do is get high
Between your legs is where my brain is at
Cause I'ma nymphomaniac
I used to smoke marijuana when I was a kid
Now I'm trippin on acid
I'm high on every drug known to mankind
So go ahead and pass it
[Chorus]
My designated driver was this girl
Her name was Carolyn
But I can't go home cause she just died from an overdose of heroin
She's a dopefiend baby
She don't know why
All she wants to do is get high
Between her legs is where my brain is at
Cause I'ma nymphomaniac
[Chorus]
This butt naked girl sat next to me
And offered me some ecstasy
Then she gave me a big fat kiss with a mouth full of LSD
[Chorus]
Wave your hands in the air
Then wave it like you just don't care
If you got on clean underwear somebody say oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Check it out all the homeboys gather round 'cause
Repeat after me
Shit, God damn, get off your *** and jam
Shit, God damn, get off your *** and jam
Shit, God damn, get off your *** and jam
Shit, God damn, get off your *** and jam
My hands are shakin, my nose is twitchin, my eyeballs are real gigantic
I'm layin in bed, with a throbbin head, and I'm trippin on widespread panic
[Chorus - repeat 3X]
Hell yeah, A man, I'm gonna do some impersonations right
A, the first one is a mixture between the lead singer of the B-52's
And Robert Smith from the cure right
[Chorus]
I'm gonna do Axl Rose from Guns N Roses 'cause
[Chorus]
Willie Nelson, Willie Nelson, we gonna sing some country
Maybe I didn't f**k you
But little darling don't cry
The fact is I masturbated
About an hour before you came by
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
On the road again
Open up your legs and let me stick it in
My favorite past time is making love to my girlfriend
I can't wait to shoot my load again
Shoot my load again
Stick my dick some where it's never been

Oh we get started up one more time
I got the number down right here, I'm looking at it
I couldn't believe she would do me like that P
I just don't understand it dog, can't understand it
Ladies and gentleman,
Wanna welcome y'all back to "The Minstrel Show"
Thank y'all for tuning in; y'all keep watching a lotta the station
But y'all touring us right now
And it feels so beautiful
Performing at black face tonight!
It's my nigga, Joe Scudda
Coming up a little bit later on in the show
I just wanna thank y'all for just tuning in
It's like this yo...
[Phonte]
Yo, when 'Te pulls his verses out
Promoters pull their purses out
That, money for a purchase out
The charge card that they swipe for the worst amounts
Cause this is business, not personal
Thought I would switch my personnel
Like Big Doe and Big Pooh would be the first to bounce
But y'all, niggaz is boring me, y'all never gon' change
And please, join a sorority, go step your game up
Y'all boys ain't ready for damage, you need extra planning
You in the game, but you off-size and gotta extra man
And I'm the coach doing your reprimanding
I got a team to run, boy respect my standards
And when I'm on the mic y'all should expect the grandest
Showing lyricism ever let ‘em know who your man is
It's Phonte (a ch- a ch- a ch- a check it now)
[Chorus]
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(So gutter)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
(Little Brother)
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(And all across the world, the fly ladies and girls, tell me they lovin' it)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(East Coast say they lovin' it)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
(Midwest say they lovin' it)
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(All worlds say they lovin' it)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
Its rapper Big Pooh!
[Big Pooh]
I got a prob with, niggaz speaking gossip
Talkin' bout what you know, nothing it is nonsense
That's a Bronson, Charlie take precaution
Get you sold on the block, no not an auction
Dearly departin'
I'm not a G, but I move like they move
With a head full of smarts man
Here these niggaz go rambling
Cuz they don't know about the business we be handling (But let em know!)
Constant hits keep em scrambling
Till the stores, till the shelves dismantlin' (And?)
And what's that joint 9th sampling?
Pooh and 'Te on the mic, them bastards them, (Damn!)
And your women, we attractin' them
And if you ever wanna know what's happening
We tell em
[Chorus]
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(It sounds so good)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
(It's so hood!)
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(From state to state, them boys making the papes, and yeah we lovin it)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(West Coast say they lovin' it)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
(The East Coast say they lovin' it)
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(Southwest say they lovin' it)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
It's Joe Scudda!
[Joe Scudda]
I wake up every morning, holding my dick
Going through life like I know I'm the shit, ya ain't ****ing with me
So why try? Why go that route?
Why take that street? You can't take that heat?
Man your whole flow weak, we will take that beat
Put our own words on it, we will make that street
To the crowds and the masses, and all I ask is
Don't settle for the average, rap cabbage-
Heads; yeah you heard what I said, we the best here
Cuz our worst days be better than your best years
We your worst fears,
So get up, get out, and get somethin'
Man, its only getting worse here
Joe Scudda, little brother, man we family
And we here forever so understand me
[Chorus]
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(Check the realness)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
(If you can feel this)
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(Doing shows and videos, collecting ?)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(9th wonder say he lovin' it)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
(Big Pooh say he lovin' it)
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
(J. League say they lovin' it)
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna
(Everybody say they lovin' it)
Don't stop, can't stop, yes I wanna
Can't stop, won't stop, yes I wanna

[Gangsta's Paradise - Coolio]
As I walk through the valley of the shadow of debt
I take a look at my life and realize there's nothing left
Cause I've been blastin' and laughing so long that
Even my mama thinks that my mind is gone
But I ain't never crossed a man that didn't deserve it
He be treated like a punk, you know that's unheard of
You better watch how you talking, and where you walking
Or you and your homies might be lined in chalk
I really hate to trip, but I gotta loc
As they croak I see myself in the pistol smoke, fool
I'm the kinda G that little homies wanna be like
On my knees in the night
Sayin' prayers in the street light
Been spending most our lives
Living in a Gangsta's Paradise
Been spending most our lives
Living in a Gangsta's Paradise
Keep spending most our lives
Living in a Gangsta's Paradise
Keep spending most our lives
Living in a Gangsta's Paradise
Forgot the situation, they got me facin'
I can't live a normal life, I was raised by the street
So I gotta be down with the hood team
Too much television watchin' got me chasing dreams
I'm a educated fool, with money on my mind
Got my ten in my hand and a gleam in my eye
I'm a loc'd-out gangsta, set-trippin' banger
And my homies is down, so don't arouse my anger, fool
Death ain't nothing but a heart beat away
I'm livin life do-or-die ah, what can I say?
I'm twenty-three now will I live to see twenty-four?
The way things are going I don't know...
Tell me why are we - so blind to see
That the ones we hurt - are you and me...
Been spending most their lives
Living in the Gangsta's Paradise
Been spending most their lives
Living in the Gangsta's Paradise
Keep spending most our lives
Living in the Gangsta's Paradise
Keep spending most our lives
Living in the Gangsta's Paradise
Power and the money, money and the power
Minute after minute, hour after hour
Everybody's running, but half of them ain't lookin'
What's goin' on in the kitchen, but I don't know what's kickin'
They say I got to learn, but nobody's here to teach me
If they can't understand it, how can they reach me?
I guess they can't - I guess they won't
I guess they front; that's why I know my life is out of luck, fool
Been spending most their lives
Living in the Gangsta's Paradise
Been spending most their lives
Living in the Gangsta's Paradise
We keep spending most our lives
Living in the Gangsta's Paradise
We keep spending most our lives
Living in the Gangsta's Paradise
Tell me why are we - so blind to see
That the ones we hurt - are you and me
Tell me why are we - so blind to see
That the ones we hurt - are you and me...
Tell me why are we - so blind to see
That the ones we hurt - are you and me
Tell me why are we - so blind to see
That the ones we hurt - are you and me...

Check me out y'all, Nasty Nas in your area
About to cause mass hysteria
Before a blunt, I take out my fronts
Then I start to front, matter of fact, I be on a manhunt
You couldn't catch me in the streets without a ton of reefer
That's like Malcom X catching the Jungle Fever
King poetic, too much flava, I'm major
Atlanta and braver, I pull a number like a pager
Cuz I'm am ace when I face the bass
40 side is the place that is giving me grace
Now wait, another dose and you might be dead
And I'm a Nike head, iwear chains that excite the feds
And aint' a damn thing gonna change
I'm a perform a strange show the mic wonder was born the game
Nas, why did you do it?
You know you got the mad fat fluid when you rhyme, it's halftime
Right...(echos) X3
It's halftime...
It's like that, you know it's like that
I got it hemmed, now you never get the mic back
When I attack, there ain't an army that could strike back
So I react never calmly on a hype track
I set it off wit my own rhyme
Cuz I'm as ill as a convict who kills for phone time
I'm max like cassettes, I flex like sex
In your stereo sets, Nas will catch wreck
I used to hustle, now all I do is relax and strive
When I was young, I was a fan of the Jackson 5
I drop jewels, wear jewels hope to never run it
Wit more kicks than a baby in a mother's stomach
Nasty Nas has to rise, kid, surprise
This is exercise til the microphone dies
Back in '83, I was an MC sparking
But I was too scared to grab the mics in the parks and
Kick my little raps cuz I thought niggaz wouldn't understand
And now in every jam I'm the ****in man
I rap in front of more niggaz than in the slave ships
I used to watch C.H.i.P.S, now I load glock clips
I got to have it, I miss Mr. Magic
Versatile, my style switches like a ******
But not a bisexual, I'm an intellectual
Of rap, I'm a professional but that's no question, yo
These are the lyrics of the man, you can't narrate, understand
Cuz in the streets, I'm well known like the number man
In my place wit the bass and format
Explore rap and tell me Nas ain't all that
And next time I rhyme, I be foul whenever I freestyle
I see trial niggaz say I'm wild
I hate a rhymebiter's rhyme
Stay tuned, Nas, soon the real rap comes at halftime
Right...(echos) X3
It's halftime
I got it going on, even flip 'em on this song
Every afternoon, I kick half the tune
And in the darkness, I'm heartless like when the narcs hit
Word to Marcus Garvey or heartless Sparkton
Cuz when I blast a herb, that's my word
I be slaying them fast, doing this, that and third
But chill, past the Andre and let's lay
I bag *****es up at John Jay and hit a mantinee
Putting hits on 5-0
Cuz when it's my time to go, I wait for God wit the 4-4
And biters can't come near
And yo, go to hell to the foul cop who shot Garcia
I won't plant seeds, don't need an extra mouth I can't feed
That's extra Phillie change, more cash for that weed
This goes out to Manhatten, the island of Staten
Brooklyn, Queens is living fat and
The Boogie Down, nuff props, enough clout
Ill Will, rest in peace, yo, I'm out
Beats by Nomak, rap by Zion I:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYJCT8EqbtU
Zion whispers) I got a bird's eye view
(Girl in the background) Hip hop, is so many things you can say about it, know what I mean?
Like, on the real, hip hop is like, just, beautiful
Hip hop is life
[Verse 1]
From the first time I saw you, infatuation
Pulled to the side to provide conversation
Wild reputation but you were so cool
Any old fool knew that you was a jewel
Ghetto to ghetto, your influence settled
More hardcore than r&b but not metal
Blacker than a kennel, you made me feel mellow
Introduction to my life, I said "hello"
Meet me in a minute 'cause I gotta finish school
Some of my homies, they never finished puffin' woo's
Stayin' up late, always studying the tapes
The world watched you fall in love, I guess fate had a,
Grip on my mind state, I wanna rhyme, wait
I fell in line, getting signed at the wrong gates
And so my heart braced at first for real
But I would still be lovin' you 'cause deep is what I feel
[Chorus]
I got a bird's eye view (hip hop...the realness)
I be wit'chu, I be there wit'chu
I be wit'chu, I be there wit'chu
2x
[Verse 2]
She's the one I always count on, one that wouldn't leave me
One that's in the city always written in graffiti
One that keeps me company, when I'm all alone
She's my heart, my mind, my spirit and my bones
She's the only one I know that would go across the globe
Meet me in a foreign land, treat me like I'm home
Everything I own, give to her, she deserves it
Treats me like a king, every syllable is perfect
Searched through the earth for a reason just to be here
And since I met her every moment's like a leap year
Baby you can sleep here, you can stay with me
Anywhere you go, know I'm probably gon' be
Full of energy, and you never acting tired
You're everything I need, when I prayed, God supplied
You my chunky fire, blessings you provide
Always in my life 'til the day that I die
[Chorus]
2x
(hip hop, hip hop, hip hop...is life)

I would like to make a poem, or rap.
Whatever you would like to call this "crap."
This is about the day I got lost,
the day I found out life's true cost.
It all started out when I got up from bed,
of course, you guessed it, I hit my head.
Then I went to brush my teeth,
and that is when I saw "the sheath."
I looked all around for my little baby brother,
I loved him the most, because I had no other.
I searched all the rooms, still not in sight,
I did not want to give up on this fight.
He was the one who gave all life meaning,
the one that made things less seem demeaning.
But then I had noticed, the tiny little puddle,
it had struck me as the end of his muddle.
I rushed on over to look if it happened,
and there he lay, my heart turned blackened.
And that was my tuff,
I've had quite enough.
Let this discussion draw on,
For I will be gone.
And probably one of nicest lyrics I know, Luv Sic by Shing02.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ltk4BgiaaLc
Lovesick like a dog with canine sensitivity
developing this new theory of relativity
connecting our souls resting in captivity,
positive life sacrifice what it is to me
our history, only a quarter of a century
reality, sitting on the shoulders of our chemistry
see ain't no mystery, the colours that we mix will set the mind free,
let the blind see beyond harmony!
breathe life into dead space blow away all clouds of doubt
new territory we determine to be
everything a safe haven is supposed to be
now it might seem distant but the time is near
when our thoughts take off and split the atmosphere
pure sound waves travel semi-infinitely,
plus I'll see you there utmost definitely!
'cause the beat plus the melody makes me speak of l.o.v.e. eloquently, so evidently
'cause the beat plus the melody makes me speak of l.o.v.e. eloquently, so evidently
good gracious, every process has a genesis and ends with a revelation
god bless this opportunity for me to find a voice
for some words that have waited for way too long
low wages, small tips on the avenue
never wasted, all hits for a revenue
haven't you heard the news lately?
seems we've been living for sometimes in a purgatory
but yo, I thought I knew what a love song sound like
but I felt a warmer tune in the sunlight
I could still hear it in the room past midnite,
gotta move, take a solo cruise in the moon light
sometimes I do forget , oh how much we could ease the lives we lead
if we learn to let go, the reins that we hold
return to our souls, and the spirit let flow
so you see, upon everyday faced there's a million shades to express definition of grace
but the method I choose my prerogative,
there's so much love in me I got to give!
(chorus)
oh how I could write a book on how you make me feel,
but how about this song that I wrote for you?
what I feel like... I wanna put my trust in these simple words
for you to feel what I'm saying, what you feel like?
reminisce about the little episodes that we shared together?
remember the time that you told me in the cold night,
to relax when all I knew was to hold tight
remember the time that I spoke to a crowd in a full house and realized that you was my ace?
I was the joker on the stage singing the blues
all eyes on me and had nothing to prove
but yo, I thought I knew what a diamond shine like
but I felt a sharper love in the limelight,
from the queen of hearts watching me quietly in the upper deck balcony
sometimes I do suspect, I'm an actor in a well-scripted live divine comedy
when I look back at that frozen slice of time and try to defrost the senses lost
now enough with the metaphors, the motivation that I wrote this letter for
for you to know that the music help us carry on,
like you say a new day will bring us tomorrow...
'cause your beat plus my melody makes me speak of l.o.v.e. eloquently, so evidently
'cause my beat plus your melody makes me speak of l.o.v.e. eloquently, so evidently

I disagree.
Rap is rap. It is synthesized beats, people talking fast, and people rhyming. Just because you don't want the type of rap that you listen to to look bad because of the retarded stuff on the media, it doesn't mean that it isn't rap.
I listen to rock. Bands like Fallout Boy, AFI and Panic at the Disco are all complete shit, but they are still for the most part considered rock. See what I am getting at?

I stopped reading after I saw Fageezy's name. I'm so tired of hearing about that 2nd rate douche-***. Seriously, he sucks, he isn't a visionary, what little "talent" he has is wasted on gay sex with Birdman and typical, shitty lyrics.

This only proves you don't know jack about rap. Rap isn't necessarily synthesized beats at all. Shing02 new album consists of 80 minuttes of tracks all made from scratch by musicians playing real instruments, so please take your failed assumptions somewhere else.
The word Rap itself only describes one thing and that is the performance of lyrics in a certain style. There are no limits as to how you use beats, how you use instruments, and what to apply in general to make hip hop.
Rap can be an artform, and it is, comming from many artists. Not all rappers are ****tards who're in it solely for the cash, and rap about life being a *****.
Stop putting down the entire genree just because you don't like the little of it that you've heard.
It's no more justified than putting down the entire metal genree with arguments like it being uncreative growling about life sucking.
I can post more than 20 rap artists of my tounge right now, who all have great melodies, creative beats, and meaningfull lyrics, so please take the bashing somewhere else.
Nobody is pretending rappers who suck aren't actually rappers. It's an expression used to imply that these so-called artists are nothing but a disgrace to the genree.
And for the record, even though I qouted you Croix, this post is not meant for you exclusively, nor meant to flame you in anyway.

Someone right now is leaving their apartment
Looking down at the street, wondering where there car went
Someone in the car sitting at a signal
In front of a restaraunt, staring through the window
at someone right now with their finger in their teeth
Who could use a little floss right across the street
there's somebody on the curb who really needs a jacket
spent half the rent at a bar getting plastered
Now he gotta walk fourteen blocks
to work at a shop where he's about to get fired.
Someone right now is looking pretty tired
Staring at a laptop trying to get inspired
Somebody living right across the street
She wrote the best things she's written all week
but her best friends coughing up blood in the sink
Can't even think what happened, feeling so confused
And he knows it looks bad but there's nothing he can do
I wonder what it's like to be right there in his shoes
Yo somebody right now is dropping his vote inside a box
And trying not to get shot in his throat
For the act of freedom right now somebody is stuck in Iraq
Hoping that he gets shipped back breathing
in a war that he's not really sure of the reasons
So we show our support when the press mislead them
Though we more then remain proud and salute the troops
get some I know you boys got some work to do
Meanwhile right now someones 25 to life
And is standing on the corner with their thumb up hitchiking
Stretching off a lotto ticket hoping for a real winner
Sneaking through the border just to work and to eat a real dinner
Right now someone wishes they were you and I
instead of second guessing freedom thoughts of quiet suicide
But right now I'm staring at the window at a frame
with holes in his arm and holes in his jeans
he pulled out his cigarette sparked the light
And walked right around the corner just outta my sight
a right now somebody sitting in the darkness
Trying to figure out how to put some heat in their apartment
But they got a little mattress and a little carpet
And they appreciate it 'cause some people on a park bench
You see them when you rushing to get to the office
wife robbed blind when she coming from the market
Right now somebody coming out from the pocket
Trying to dump that rock they run around the block with at
The same time the cops is raising the glock with aim
To fill your legs and back with some hot shit
Right now somebody struggling to stop this man
Who's kick and punching and cussing at the doctors
Down the hall the child taking his first breath
The doctors ain't even passed him to the nurse yet yo
I wonder if he understands what it's worth yet
Like the time spent while we here on the earth yet
The answer to the question that we all seek
can be found depend on how free y'all think
Right now it's somebody who ain't eat all week
That would kill for the shit that you throw away in the street
I guess one man's trash is the next man's treasure
One mans pain is the next mans pleasure
one say infinity the next say forever
right now everybody got to get it together man
Fort Minor they are good :D

I agree that I made a few generalizations, but they were accurate. Yeah, there's one artist out of every 20 that uses actual instruments, just like how in rock music there's one in every twenty bands that synthesizes their beats. When you think rock music, you think drums, guitar, bass, and singer. When you think rap music you think synthesized beats and rapper, maybe backup singers/rappers. Stop nitpicking.
I wasn't saying that that is ALL rap is. I was merely saying that like it or not the shit all over the media of buffoons like 50 Cent, Ludacris, ect. are still rappers even if they do suck dick. I'm going to disregard that next paragraph because I didn't say anything along the lines of that and I am guessing you weren't talking to me there.
Now see, that last part, I had no way of knowing that. Maybe if Jakuza could have clarified that in his post...

I like the lyrics from Superstar by Lupe Fiasco, Hip Hop Saved My Life by Lupe Fiasco, some from Stronger by Kanye West, and the lyrics from T.I.'s Big Shit Poppin'. Currently, anyways.
The post would be way too long if I were to post all the lyrics here.

Hm?
It's a fact that homosexual people like rock more then rap.
What fine line am I crossing?
PROVE THAT!
Don't use Halford and Mercury.
Go. Right now.
How do you know that the generalization is accurate? I doubt you've heard half the hip-hop I have. Besides, the rap being played in pop charts etc, isn't the majority of rap. That actually applies to all music being played in pop-charts. Of the amount of rap, rock, jazz, blues, classsic etc. being produced every year, only a small amount actually gets played regurarly, and as such, looking at mainstream music to get an idea of a genree is more likely to lead to inaccuracy than accuracy.
Would you say that the majority of rock consists of music that sounds like Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance just because they are(have been) popular etc.?
Just like rock, hip hop is divided into sub-genrees and as a whole it has much more to offer than the the fluff that is shown in the media atm.
As for the 1 in 20 example;
Do you know how big the music industry(and scene) is in America alone? Even on a margin of 1 to 20, that still amounts to a huge amount of artists, both signed and unsigned. This means that it should be no sweat to find an artist that goes above your expectations and outside the what those who aren't experienced with hip hop consider the norm.
Besides, isn't "norms" within a music genree bad without exception? I mean, if a norm is formed, then that means the music in question is generic, and that's pretty bad IMO no matter what kinda music we're talking about. And in no way is rap more generic than for example metal, nu metal, screamo, jazz, and blues. They are all generical if you look at the fluff, namely the mainstream, over-produced, recycled stuff that form the front shelfs in record stores.
I agree with you though, those who suck as rappers are still rappers, but this goes without saying and applies to all kinds of music. My point is simply that the amount of shit being said about hip hop on this forum is ignorant and completely uncalled for.
not directed at you Croix, cause in my book, you score way above some of the guys in this thread:
Ripping on hip hop as a whole, saying that it isn't real music is ignorant no matter how you look at it, and is no different than ripping on for example metal, saying that it amounts to a bunch of screaming, with uninspiring powercords and uncreative abuse of shredding. I don't like the majority of techno, but I still don't go around dissing it. I'm, even open to the fact that there might be techno out there that exceeds my expectations and that will suit my taste.

Little Brother - Beautiful Morning
the whole song is dope but here is the start.
[Rapper Big Pooh]
Open my eyes to a new day, spreading my wings
Taking shots fo crown cause I'm going through things
Coattails getting heavy cause I'm living my dream
I'm trying to school these young ni*** it ain't all what it seems
I still struggle just like you, and I still hustle just like you
But it just so happens that Big Pooh doing what he love to do
Get back on my work, cause I was penning on this piece last night
That'll drive these ni*** berserk
Tiggalo hit me up, "Pooh its time to murk"
Throw on a pair of sweats, A-1's, white shirt
Headed back to the shop, back to the spot where the hits keep coming
Stack them up like bricks, you can call me the mason of shit
Foundation has been rock solid no replacing, ya dig?
No replacing my nig, on everything that I live
We gonna let this ***** ride to our trains collide
Or we fall off track, and ain't no bringing me back
And everything that go for you the same applies to Pat

Just like rock, hip hop is divided into sub-genrees and as a whole it has much more to offer than the the fluff that is shown in the media atm.
No, it's not. Hip hop is hip hop. There's shit hip hop and there's good hip hop, mainstream and not mainstream. You don't get to create sub-genres just because you don't like the idea of having to associate yourself with a genre everyone has an inaccurate image of.
I am a fan of a lot of hip hop, and I don't care what people assume about it because I can correct them, I know what I like and I know the shit is shit, and the good is good, to me.
It's hip hop always, just good or bad.
I disagree.
Exactly, and that is why you never shackle yourself to a genre. Like "rock fans" who deny Linkin Park are a rock band just cos they dislike them. If you don't wanna be associated with all the shit, don't say you love a GENRE.
Hip hop is hip hop.
The amount of uneducated bs-talking in this thread is unreal. None of you really know what you're on about besides Croix and Exeunt.
any 2pac lyric will destroy those.
Nah, his lyrics are just "supposed" to be meaningful and smart, that's the only reason people name him. If you break down his lyrics, they're nothing clever.

the anatomy of a school shooting, shotgun under my trenchcoat
Columbiners did it, dead spoke - blood red soaked
My mind consume the doom as I walk through the school
15 people killed and over 14 wounded
My name is Eric Harris, I was forever harrased, an outcast
You **** with us and now me and Dylan is pulling out gats
I've been wanting to murder people
Suicide is played out, if you gonna die, take people with you
We've been planning this before the kids from Jones boro did it
And I wanted the world to know when people died why we did it
I even killed myself but don't feel sorry for me
Feel sorry for your seeds as we spread the diease
Another bloodbath coming soon to a school near you
Small town killing-spree that's organized by the youth
**** the media, them fags be disguising the truth
Dragging my name through the mud when televizing the news
A bunch of ticking time bombs y'all, is more like me
Over flowin with hate, bullied to get raw like me
They constantly get picked on and shitted on like me
You'd probably get your head blown off by a kid like me
I put my mind to it and what I accomplish's frightening
The right thing, no matter what you idiots might think
Check it, I did that shit so idiots might think
This ain't a game, the nerds that you be ****in with might flip
[Chorus: repeat 2X]
It's like this, what's more fun than slice wrist?
Kill that teacher that you hate, spray 25 kids
You'd be famous just like me if you did what I did
This is the anatomy of a school shooting
[Verse 2]
I see dead people, it isn't my fault that they were evil
**** a favorite I hate everybody equal
***** I warned y'all, didn't I?
Now everybody wanna talk shit and cry asking why
- Two geeks picked up guns and turned murderous
All of y'all under beneath me you don't deserve to live
Two nerdy kids is that a crime?
why I've gotta be one of the cool kids just to walk by
- without being tripped, thrown down on the ground and kicked
Ins
