Well, The bike is about a month old, It was new, off the shipment.

But, I've been riding my bike for the past 2 weeks intensely, and usually till downtown Toronto at most points.

Now I have two problems with it, One, being that when I use the front breaks, they squeal. Two, being that when I stand on the pedals (I'm sure you know what I mean) and ride, the front, or somewhere near there, it cracks.

What should I do?

Yes, I am looking at things on Google, It's giving me miscellaneous info.

Well for the squealing i suggest getting WD40 and spraying it on the brakes. But can you explain what is cracking the pedals? Or the frame?

That could work I guess, but I've tried the spraying, It's still squeeling.

Oh dear god don't spray WD-40 on your breaks. Jesus Christ! Breaks are meant to STOP, WD-40 is meant to make things NOT stop. Holy shit. Not to mention that it would prolly eat through your break pads like no tomorrow.

For the squealing > its no big deal. It happens to all bikes. If it bothers you TOO much, go to your local bike shop and get some break pads. If they are cool dudes, you might even get them for free (if you went to the one I go to, where my dad works, you would :D) Oh...and, the front breaks are almost useless anyway unless they are discs. The back ones are the ones that are going to save your *** if you need it.

(Edit: I just remembered, my old breaks used to squeal when they'd get muddy. Clean the rim of the tire and report back :P)

As for the cracking...I know the exact sound your talking about. Its because you are adding tension to the chain. Its not a very GOOD sound...but, it should only do it AS you stand and ride...not while you are riding, am I right? Just do a smoother transition from sitting to standing.

If I sit on the seat, then it doesn't crack, if I stand up and ride, it cracks horribly.

Yeah, You're right dude.
It might be the mud considering my friend and I went riding through cummer valley, and I cleaned the wheels from the jet-stream of a hose, and it's still...blahh.

Another tip > don't use a hose like that. Wipe it down with a towel, hoses make rusting :D

I'll ask my dad about it on the way home and repost some more info later tonight. :D

Nothing's rusted, I wiped it all afterwords, It's really annoying; the cracking sound I mean.

rusting is caused by oxidation not spraying with a hose. not to be mean are you overweight? maybe the bikes not strong enough? if not im not sure, the pads touch the wheel and are probably new so they need to get worn in i suppose. cracking, is the seat to high up?

Well...he said what I said. In order to properly diagnose the problem, I'd need to see a picture of where your pedals connect...it depends upon the bottom bracket you have...you might have blown out a bearing (no big deal)

Your best bet would be to take it to your local bike shop...repairs are VERY reasonably priced...you'd be surprised.

he hasnt blown anything... you have pads thats clamp the tire to break, thats what squeaks, there new so they got that new speak. where excactly does the cracking noise come from, you prob dont need a shop.

I'm 160 (about)

No, I'm not overweight.
The bike's really strong.

The cracks are coming from the front,
The squeeks are from the front breaks.

The seat used to squeek, but it did that because it was too low.

Oh, and I got the bike April 13th,
It wasn't up til about a week ago that i've used it.

The crap started happening after yesterdays bike ride.

You wore down the brake pads, that's it. Get them replaced to stop the squeaking. And as for the cracking thing, the frame is cracked or you hear cracking sounds?

its only 2 months old, i dont think their wore down, id say there not worn in yet.

EDIT: from what i read, the angle of the pad or how it touches causes squeak. so oyu may need to adjust it.

Depending on what brand of bike and if they are stock brake pads they could wear down in 2 weeks of intensive biking easy.

i hardly think he rides intensely into downtown whatever city (toronto?). From other post i only think like 3 members of Onrpg run/bike not as a mean to blow off steam, or get a little exercise but for competitions. Im assumeing he has a mountain bike riding in town.

I meant he might have blown a bearing in his bottom bracket (the cracking, not the squealing)

Anyway, seriously...just bring it to a shop and have them diagnose it. Its impossible to tell without being there (for me anyway)because there are so many factors involved.
