I was looking around and wondering how someone could make a browser based game, what programs would it involve, what knowledge (C++ Java scrip ect?) and how long it would take someone if they worked like 6 hours a day on it to make a decent one like the ones 1000's of people play and donate money for?

Any tips or suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Im not shure about time, but your probally going to need
-PHP
-CSS
-mySQL
-XHTML
-Javascript (Maybe a framework like prototype/script.alic.ious)
-Photoshop (only if you want images)
Tell me if I forgot one.

I'd say AJAX and JSON. I hate to encourage people to use JS frameworks. I'm really sick of people's 500K JS framework libraries bogging down my browser.

Greetings,
I myself am programming a Browser Based RPG in PHP & mySQL...

Basically, here are the things you will need for a basic Browser Based RPG.

1. Knowledge of HTML & xHTML.
2. Knowledge of CSS.
3. Knowledge of PHP.
4. Knowledge of mySQL.

And if you want to make it really good, then you need:

5. Knowledge of Javascript.
6. Knowledge of Ajax.
7. Knowledge of using a graphics program like Photoshop.
8. About 6 months.
9. A brain.
10. Lots of dedication.

Working 6 hours a day, and with 2 years of experiance with each of the above languages you could have the game done in about 2 weeks if you work 6 hours a day without fail.
For one 1000's of people would play, that will take 6 hours a day for 3 months, and a very good game idea, good graphics, and some amazing features.

Hope that helps, if you have additional questions, contact me at waizujin@gmail.com

Thanks,
-Ryu

If you want a simple one here's a list of programming codes, utilities, other things you'll need to learn:

1. HTML code
2. Javascript or C++
3. Know how to use photoshop, paint, or other similar utilities effectively to add in pictures.
4. mySQL or another server language
5. for a really good game I'd say you should lay out at least a year to make it really advanced, for just a game I'd say a week to a few months.
6. You need an IQ higher then 75 to proceed.

That's all I got for ya, good luck.
