I honestly have started to doubt it. Could there really be a free old school style (lots of stats to build, stereotypical characters) rpg with (this is more lenient) simple graphics (not animations necessarily, just like little portraits of the enemies) and also stuff like shops, magic etc. If anyone has heard of anything remotely like this, could you PLEEASE tell me??:confused:

The best I can tell you is to either make one, search the net for a classic Sierra game, or rely on old SNES/ NES ROMs.

i used to play this game when i didnt have the net its called FATE i cant remember the site so just google its only like 20 meg and its got pretty good graffics:D

YES, runesword http://www.crosscutgames.com/index.html theres 1 and 2 2 is better of course, its like DnD based (old skewl) simple graphics nice nice nice battle system you build stats and the like....i used to play it on my old compy cuase i culd barely run that and doom Lol!
also theres an editing thing were you can make maps and such....what i did was made a map with an uber monster with like 1 hp and you get tons of xp so id get my chars up to lvl 200 something xD
baldurs gate and icewind dale that whole series is really good and old school like that....you ahve to buy them though ><

Oh yeah look for RPG Maker games or download RPG Maker and make one it is preatty old classic style stuff.

There are remakes of Ultima 4 and Zelda, but also Realms of Loria is pretty old-school. Although it's browser-based, and it's not single-player (although there is barely anyone on anymore). The link is www.sdegames.com.

I remember playing that! it was pretty ok, except i hated how you looked on that animation screeen thing... so tacky.
