Well first you need to learn how to stay on it lol. Just ride around for awhile until you get used to pushing and turning and can comfortably ride it without having to worry about randomly losing balance and falling off.

*shrug* dont want to spend a ton of money on a board when i may grow tired of failing - trust me, my attention span is rather short - but i do want to get good at it - and i need the exersize =P.

(( not over-weight, just getting a bit tubby over the last few months. ))

My friend said it took him about 3-4 days to be able to do clean ollies continously. I told him it didn't look like it would take that long to learn. He bet me $20 that it would take me at least 2 days to do it right.

I did it in 30 minutes.

Can you do it while moving? Cause if not it's kinda pointless. Just about anyone can get on a board and do an ollie it's not very complicated but doing it while your riding and doing it clean takes a bit more work than you are probably used to.

But hey you got $20 out of it.

Put money on the table.

If I could I would be willing to bet a VERY large sum of money that you couldn't even come close. I would also bet you would break something trying.

If I could jump one deck within 30 minutes, I don't think 3 more will be that bad. Well, yeah, it will, but I'll break sweats trying. You don't know me.

Much.

Bullshit. No one can pick up a skateboard for the first time and jump anything within 30 minutes.

Try squating... It might build up your quads and hence help your balance when boardingXD

If you do already then nvm. I have found the exercize to be very helpful

I don't advise going straight to ollies first. You should try to shove it first while standing still, then try it while riding. Then try to ollie while standing still. Once you've got that down, try to Pop shove it. Thats when you Shove it, but pop it aswell. Then try to Pop shove it while moving, and then go into ollies while moving. My drummer Ricci works for this community center and he teachs skateboarding to little kids, and I usually volunteer and help him. Thats basically the easiest way we've come up with to teach beginners the basics :).

Happy skating!

Heres a great instructional video on how to Pop Shove It. (A "Shove it" is a pop shove it without popping it like an ollie :))

Funny story.

Back when me and my buddy Bill used to get liquored up every day, I thought it would be cool to skateboard. I was SO good. I could do mad heelflips and shit...impossibles too.

Now, I can't even stand on the fucker.

Moral of the story? Be loose man. Or it won't work out for ya. :)

if your looking to skateboard for exercise, run maybe, that will get in more exercise in 30 mins than skate boarding will for like few hours. and if you say it wont, your not running fast enough, pick it up slacker. lol

i would only skateboard for the fun, not to exercise. i can only ride around, not to complicated...
