Is there anyway to stop my laptop from overheating?

-Use compressed air to blow out any dust/crap from any fans and heatsinks on the laptop

-do not use the laptop on soft surfaces such as a couch, carpet, your lap, etc. (only use it on a hard surface like a desk)


That's about it really.... unless you wanted to start modding your laptop.

I don't even use my laptop as much anymore after getting myself a desktop computer. It just sits in my bedroom and I only use it when I feel like going online / play games before I sleep.

Thats the reason why they are expensive.

1. For portability.
2. Everything inside is smaller, and costs more to produce//sell.

I'm mad my PS3 uses a laptop sized hard drive. It costs more to buy one. =/

Same here, cept' I'm running a lappy. I can't play any games without horribly lagging about 30 minutes into.

I don't like laptops, for some reason. It just feels more practical for me to use a desktop. I'll use my Mac at school, but that's it.

also make sure the fans are free of dust. Many times they can get clogged up with dust and will make them work like shit.

if your laptop keeps overheating and you want a temp
solution, just put a your fan next to the hub and have it on high.
it'll cool down the area for awhile~ or get a laptop cooler, like alluring angel suggested~

That's really cheap, I paid 2.4k for my laptop in Summer of 2007. Anywho, I would suggest as many have said not using it on couches, most new computers anything from 2005-Current should not overheat even on couches but should just get very hot. However what AA showed was actually very nice.

I got my laptop for 800 bucks last year boxing day. Works nicely, rarely overheats. It just looks like shit, luls. It's not heavy duty gaming, but it plays mmorpg's decently.

You can usually push a desktop further. If you overclock your cpu on a desktop and burn it, you'll ruin your cpu and motherboard at worst. If you do it on your laptop you may damage your case and any nearby components (gpu, ram, wireless card, harddrive). Also desktops have much more air around their components.

I have linux and I can do everything windows does.....except some of the game won't work under the wine ( windows emulation)

I also dual booted with win xp....
