Apparently, the thought of video game boobies draws people to a game.

Most companies are trying to lure the 14-36 year old straight male with disposable income. This leads companies to do things such as skimpy outfits, ridiculously sized breasts, and of course something that someone would consider attractive. And you would be amazed at how many guys in that age group get off on animated boobs/porn.

I think the armor looks cool, but not attractive. So they did a good job with that, as cool looking armor is a major factor in decision on online games. I decided to be a mage on FlyFF just because they had the coolest armor at higher levels.

How Is that armor supposed to protect you from a sword or a spear or whatever. Its defiantly not going to protect you from rape.

Yeah, I think it's like what Atiari said. They want to attract males from the age 14+ range and get them to play their games. Since they're 14 year olds, they're old enough to get a job, right? So if they have a job, they'll be able to pay for the cash shop/P2P games with skimpy clothes. I don't know, but that's IMO.

Anime and skimpy outfits are something that are big in Asia, and I guess there is a lot of people who like Anime here. I personally think it is horrible, drawing it takes no talent. But you have to realize these games start out in Asia, then migrate over. That would explain part of it. But also America is a bunch of nasty people, fat gross antisocial people, and if they can play a game and see 'attractive' looking characters, it can be a nice thing I guess?

I don't really understand it, but then again I'm gay, and not into anime. I think the whole anime porn trend is somewhat disturbing, I guess people who like it have a pretty good imagination though.

Well, who was it that said "Sex sells"? It's a fact, sadly. Considering that a vast majority of gamers are male--I say this from experience; most people who say they're female on the internet are guys. (If you don't believe me, go into ANY IRC chat room and ask who's female.)

Considering that most gamers I've seen are male--the majority are straight / perverted--of course companies are gonna start noticing this trend, and try to attract males. It's like.. I dunno what the term is, but it's pathetic, I guess.

From the example the OP posted of FlyFF, if the developers were perverts then they would have given the girl giant, busty boobs, and even more revealing armor.

The advertisement, however, does have the giant busty boobs. Thus making the developers normals people and then advertisers pervs. =P

No reason why they should be offended. Would they play a game where all male characters are fat, ugly brutes? It's quite often that games with big breasted female characters have male characters with huge biceps and ripped abs.
It's all about attractive characters, both for men and women.

True, but WoW is also a fairly older game and started before too many of these generic asian grinders with the big boobies and it continues to be popular mostly just because it's already popular. I'd be willing to bet if WoW was never made before and released tomorrow it wouldn't do nearly as well.

WoW has it's share of boobies anyway. Look at the Blood elves.

I laughed at this... Now, I see all of yous complaining about the advertisements and yet we understand that "Sex sells". Now put your self in and advertisers shoes... Your companies object is to bring in paying consumers, to well make money. Therefore your job as an advertiser is to appeal to your "target market" in this case gamers. So if you see that half-dressed female characters seem to bring in a larger consumer base, then well you are going to use that to your advantage. You as an advertises its not about what you think should be done, its about what brings the most money in... Its your/their job if you don't do it in the companies best interest your fired. ( I have advertising experience. )

Now its not the companies or the advertisers fault for doing this... Who dose it attract? Who continues to pay for it? So who promotes it?

And as someone pointed out above it's both ways for men and women.

Actually in NWN 1 one of the game developers actually made a female NPC in the campaign (name eludes me atm) whose boobs jiggled when she moved which went unknown to the rest of the staff.

If game developers don't make characters with clevage, then people complain that the game is too cute and not mature enough and the game sucks.
