Finally the fucktards at marketting at Microsoft have decided to release this internet multiplayer service for free.(To be more specific, it was always free but the free service version was absolute garbage) Sorry, M$ but PC gamers aren't as stupid as a majority of the console gamers that pay for XBL(No offense if you do but fuck that). Trying to make us pay for something we've gotten for free for a years is just damn stupid.
So PC gamers finally get the totally free service they've been asking for since Games for Windows launched, but is it too little, too late to save Microsoft's attempt at a PC gaming service? And will this make 360 owners question why they have to pay?
I think the bolded line should be read by everyone.

This is good news. Now I have access to more Gears of War servers.

I'm more glad this is happening because Dawn of War 2 will be using GFWL and thank god that Microsoft announced this.

Too bad all the kids with gaming mouses will own you now.
You see? The PC triumphs as he watches from the horizon the console war, to then collect the spoils.

Great to hear. I don't mind paying 50$ a year, though it'd be great if it was free and didn't cause a drop in the quality of service.

Those X360s are the arcade edition,I think. Doesn't bring a Hard dive.

Not likely to happen.
The reason is that for Consoles, the game rooms are not hosted on your console, but on Microsoft paid servers. They pay for the bandwidth and servers that are used to run the game rooms.
For a PC, those game rooms are hosted on either a player's computer, or a private server owned by someone who manages it themselves.
The owner (who ever that is) pays for the bandwidth and servers. It is then up to them to decide how they will fund the server
Big difference there.
Though I do agree that for a long time that the $50/y Live service was bullshit because you didn't really get that much. The new updates are adding lots of nice features that are actually worthwhile to pay for though.

It cost to much for Microsoft to make xbox live free believe it or not. They were thinking of making Hotmail have a fee just because it cost them to much money to host all their servers and since people love to ddos Microsoft servers it just makes it even worse. Now your asking why is Ps3 Online free but not Xbox 360. Compare Xbox Live to Ps3 Network. In my opinion, Xbox Live has a lot of great features for live.

Are you calling me a looter? I did my share. I hope they make Xbox live free... and downloadable content free (ex. Marketplace crap)
Its true that they run on paid servers but look here, Bill Gates is still making money off of Vista. Question: When does Windows XP get taken off store shelves?
