C++, by far. I really don't like how Java just classes everything.

I find Java to be simple, so I use it the most. Not for game programming, or anything like that. I'm still a newbie.

EDIT: Python, because it's extremely easy.

C# .net is good for getting things done quick and xna is supposed to be good for game programming.

I have worked in a lot of languages, but C++ is still my favorite.
It's also the one they taught me for the past 2 years at school and where I have gotten pretty advanced at.

Then again, I also think Java or C# have their benefits because of their ease of use.

But I prefer complexity over ease of use.

Python, CPython in particular. I use it for everything, save fast stuff and embedded programming. It is faster than PHP, has an elegant web framework - Django - doesn't break compatiblity often(YMMV) and is IMO more logical than PHP, also has great introspection.
Isn't as fast as C++ or even Java, but works are to make it faster.

    HTML isn't a programming language.

I use PHP for most of my projects. Its the most effective lang i have used for web stuff esp. with MySql Databases

    Default flash anyone?

    Flash AS3!!

I can't believe no one has said AS3 (although, i think its a scripting language, but then isnt Java?)

Its getting a built-in 3d engine soon, its got sockets, and lots of built-in classes and functions which are internal for better performance. Plus its more popular among web users (something like 98.7% penetration)

Biggest downside its that its.. not.. free. Gotta say its kinda worth it though.

Heheh, I'm a Java game developer. Its really easy to get started, as you mentioned. Here is an example of what I did with the language:

    http://www.janthus.com

its an online MMO, client and server completely 100% java. You can do alot within its limitations.
