If you have patience, I suggest waiting and checking slickdeals.net daily. Once in a while they have KILLER notebook deals. My brother picked up a great netbook for only $200 and a friend just got a laptop for $330 that normally retails for about $550.
thank you Paladuck and SnOwBunZz for taking yours time to help me out, i appreciate it a lot. especially to you SnOwBunZz since i always see you help peoples out in the tech section.
should i consider increasing my budget and get one of these laptop instead? the laptop isn't for me, its going to be a gift to my sister-in-law for finishing her 4 years of college and look like she is going to go for more school. again thank you for the help
Heh pretty sure any laptop in the 2010 era can run any web browser game out there.
There are a few flash games that even cause my Q9550 to look like shit.
Those generally run fine, but when there's heavy load it can cause for fps drops.
Not the biggest problem in the world, but annoying.
Also, most laptops around the 400$ range have a rather weak or even old CPU.
It's got a graphics card, and it's a netbook. A little above what your price range was, but it's really good. Small, very portable, supposed to have a decent battery life for what it is. (Yet still has a full-sized keyboard! (or at least, I don't notice it's small when I'm typing on it))
I have a 1201N, which is essentially the same thing, except less battery, worse CPU and worse graphics (as it came out earlier). Apparently this new one can toggle the graphics card on/off while the system's on to save power.
So, while you may only want it for school, you'd be surprised at how often the graphics card comes in handy (playing HD movies/presentations on a big screen, graphically intensive flash games, etc..)
