    Default Dev-C++ or C++

    Is there a difference between Dev-C++ and C++? And if so, which one would be recommended to learn?

    I am using Visual C++ 2008 Express (I've heard programs from this will only run on Windows OS's?), and also have Bloodshed Dev-C++ installed.

    ... Dev c++ can use different compilers it is pretty much just a IDE but the comes with gcc compiler

    Visual C++ has Microsoft compiler and uses their own IDE

    As decay said, it's essentially the same thing. At the beginner level, there's really no difference between the two. They both compile C++.

    Default Thankyou

    Ah I see, thank you Decay and Eriond

    I've started watching the C++ tutorials by antiRTFM and hopefully I will learn more stuff like this.
