Thumbs up Perfect World International News - F2P Player Beats Game

    This comes from MMORPG.com:

Perfect World International has been beaten by a free to play gamer who did not spend a dime on the game from start to finish. While no information was released about how long it took for this player to reach level 105, developers champion the fact that it is possible to accomplish without spending any real-world cash.

"While reaching level 105 is a milestone for Perfect World International , doing so without spending a dime is a testament to the name free-to-play," said Jonathan Belliss, Director of Marketing for Perfect World Entertainment Inc. "Perfect World Entertainment's games are designed to be truly free-to-play and when compared to subscription-based games, offers players the best entertainment value available on the market today."

I am not sure where on the PWI web site that they got this info, as the link on the article does not point anywhere except to the expansion page for PW.

The fact that the game has been out for 3 years and they found this noteworthy to post as a news article surely attests to how easy it is to beat the game without using CS, right?

Here's a comment from a former PW player, that was posted about the "news":

Well all I have to say to this farce is that the person has far too much free time on their hands. I got some characters into the eighties without spending a dime, but gave up after that, the grind became horrendous at that point. Doing the daily instances 100 times became very unfun too.

Basically there are very few quests after level 70 and they provide only a small fraction of the experience for a level. So you are relegated to grinding and doing an instance a day for the daily quest, which is the same instance, over and over again. It only changes when you hit a level ending in zero.

Didn't you hear about the player who "beat" WoW?

For those wondering, it takes an honestly large EXP increase to level up after lvl100. Even more after lvl105 (if they raised the cap to 150 as it is in PW-CH). And it could probably be done in a year with constant grinding and all that (a few months if you know how to work the market and buy Zen with in game coins from other players; but thats like a 24hr deal there), hardly impossible but requires some SERIOUS dedication.

And I don't consider this player to have "beaten" Perfect World. You've beaten Perfect World when you own one of the Warsoul Weapons at their highest quality. Seeing as those weapons are so broken they could probably help you beat a GM in a fight lol. That and the proper versions can take up to a year to GRIND for.

How do you know he hasn't gotten one of those weapons, seeing as how the article gives next to no info.

Because of the high amount of materials needed? A little over 700 is required. If someone got a Warsoul Weapon in its highest form, the forums would be all over it.

Isn't it possible to get "CS gold" by trading it for ingame gold in PW? :P

I'm not sure, but you can buy CS items from other players by using in-game money.
