Different modes of Texture Filtering in FFXIV: ARR. Note to players: This only affects/effects "Skewed" textures. When coming up close to them, they will be in whatever quality / stretch state they are as they are meant to be at highest resolution.

    Anisotropic x16

    Anisotropic x8

    Anisotropic x4

    Trilinear

    Bilinear

What do you guys prefer? It's a toss between x4 and Trilinear for me.

Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.
    Playing MMO: FFXIV (Balmung)
Waiting On: FFXV, KH3, Tree of Savior · Saving For: New Computer

    bilinear - fastest
    trilinear - slightly better quality
    anisotropic 16 - best/slowest
but tbh they have 0 impact performance on a regular pc, and which is why you should always go for anisotropic 16~

2.1 had a serious performance hit for me, so I'm seeing what I can sacrifice for better performance.

remove the dynamic shadows, lol. cascading eats a lot of fps, and 1024/2048 is not a huge difference.

Cascading is actually supposed to help. CSM means that the closer you are to a shadow, the more high-res it is, the farther you are, the less high res it is.
