~The Shift~ Preface Snippet.
"No! No! Mama? Mama, please Mama!" Caterina sobbed, blood staining her clothes. "No, Mama please." She cried out, hands gripping the white cloth of her mothers nightgown so hard her knuckles turned white. Black and white dots crossed her vision, ignored only once Caterina stood. Backing away from the bodies lying everywhere.
Friends. Family. Neighbors. People she had merely just met. All of them dead, lying in pools of blood. All because she had ran, all because the Eldest had a bounty on her. Caterina looked down at the bodies, clouded with such fury, fear, and greif all at the same time. A sudden movement caused her to look in the direction of a woman that she did not know. Or perhaps she did, only she did not remember meeting her.
"Ca. . .Caterina?" Right then and there Caterina nearly ceased her breathing, staring at the woman with eyes stained by tears. "Caterina." The woman whispered again, raising a hand. Caterina rushed over, examining the woman before shock hit her. This woman, she was no doubt the thing that her father, and every other leader of the town was hunting down. This woman was a vampire.
"He can only kill you if your alive." The woman spoke quickly, choking on whatever poison that the hunters had given her. "Caterina, listen to me. Drink my blood, then kill yourself. Its the only way you can survive." Appalled, Caterina shook her head, "No that will-" The woman cut her off, "It will change you. I know. It will make you into a vampire. But its the only way you will survive."
"But. . .Why me?" Caterina sobbed, grabbing onto the womans hand. "Because your the Doppleganger. With you living and breathing Gavin can sacrifice you and break the curse. The only way for you to live is to die." the woman choked again, suddenly rolling her head to the side, to reveal a very large wound in her neck, somehow made by an animal. "Do it Caterina." She spoke with such fury that it caused Caterina to jump. She pondered it for a moment before nodding, wiping away the tears and bending down. She began to drink the blood, letting the coppery taste of it soak into her.
Surprisingly it didnt taste bad, but tasted unnatural, not bad, but good. Moments later Caterina stood. After a moments hesitation she picked up one of the swords left over from the battle that had taken place. Caterina turned her head to look at her mothers dead body, before plunging the sword deep into her stomach.
Plot: Caterina Delancey was once a Doppleganger, the only living being that could be sacrificed to destroy the curse that lay on the town of Rooks Hollow. A remote little town that lay smack dab in the middle of Virginia. The only problem was, the immortal who had planned on breaking the curse didnt plan on Caterina becoming an immortal herself. Now, a hundred and forty years later the curse on Rooks Hollow seems to have dissapeared, all of the immortals there moved on, they stopped protecting the town they had created, and allowed the humans to take over. But now theres a new Doppleganger, a human who knows nothing of the immortals, or her relation to Delancey.
Immortals are reappearing, some good, some bad. Thats when Delancey suddenly appears, two look alikes in one town, one good, one bad. The rest. Is history.
Caterina Delancey: Wolfs
The Doppleganger: Bloody
Immortals: (Any amount of spaces)
Humans: (Any amount)
Species info: (Not all of them are literally "Immortal" The term is just a common word for all of the creatures)
Doppleganger: There is only one Doppleganger born every hundred years, and only through one family line. The original family line was the Ashcroft, now it has passed down to the newest line. A Doppleganger looks exactly like the original, there are no differences at all, and they live to make the one that looks exactly like them miserable. An original Doppleganger can only live if the new one dies, and vice versa. If one dies, the other survives until they die and a hundred years down the line a new one is created. It is impossible for two of the same person to live in the same world, meaning, one or the other MUST die. They have no supernatural abbilities, or anything like that. They are simply humans unfortunant enough to be born in the Ashcroft line.
Eldest: The oldest Immortals alive, Gavin Dyven was one of the original Vampires, the eldest of his kind. There was a curse put on him, and many other immortal originals that causes them to be alive forever,. This is not what the Eldest want though, and apparently they cannot be killed at all, even if they were to kill, stake, or burn themselves alive. This curse was put on them by a witch, and the only way to lift the curse is to sacrifice a Doppleganger on the same night that the witch cursed them.
Vampire: Nothing Sparkly here. These vampires are simpler then that, they can only be turned if they died with another vampires blood in their system, and can only turn another human under the same circumstance. They cant walk in sunlight, unless of course they have a sun ring. And can be weakened or killed by Vervain and wooden stake through the heart. They never age, and are unnaturally strong. When they go into attack mode their eyes turn blood red and the veins on their face pop out and turn black. They look just as they did when they were human.
Werewolf: There is only one way to trigger a werewolf to actually become a werewolf. And that is for the werewolf to kill someone, otherwise a werewolf born as one must bite a human to turn them. More often then not though that human dies before they even get to their first moon. They cannot change at will, and only become a werewolf every full moon. The change is extremely painful, the only thing that dulls the pain is a moon stone, and still the pain is there. The werewolf then becomes an actual wolf for only a few hours, but in that time they can kill anyone they want. Like a vampire they have super strenght and speed, but age and die when their time comes.
Skin walkers: Much like Werewolves and Shape Shifters mixed together. They are human by nature, and dont know what they are until they are of age and begin to transform. Nobody knows when this is, but when it starts to happen the human begins to loose their humanity and become more like animals. They change into one specific animal, mainly either a wolf, coyote, or a mountain Lion. Their changes are painful, and become longer and longer until finally the human stops changing back into a human, and they are permanantly an animal. This gene runs mainly through indian families. And they are identified by the specific paw print birthmark either on the hip or side.
Shape Shifters: Unlike both Skin Walkers and Werewolves Shape Shifters can control their changes, and it doesnt hurt them at all. This ene runs through the family, and its quite useful. Unlike what you would think Shapeshifters can turn into both human and animal, and often are mistaked as Dopplegangers. The only problem is when they change their eye color stays intact, meaning, if you look at their eyes then you can know if they are impersonating a person.
Witch/Warlock: Humans by nature who have powerful magic. They are human though, and after time witchcraft can end up killing them if they work to hard at it. But, if they have a special book called a Grimoire, they can learn spells easily, and can control the amount of magic they do. Most witches and Warlocks wont know what they are, because the gene skips one to two generations.
Plants and other substances that repel immortals.
Vurvain/Verbana: Is a potent herb, and is also a vampires most common weakness. When ingested vervain cases a vampire to severely weaken and become feaverish. Although if a vampires skin is exposed to Vervain then it can result in burning them. Vervain can also protect humans from being Compelled or Controlled by a Vampire. However, if a vampire ingests a small bit of Vervain everyday for many years they can build up a tolerance of it, and be unaffected by the toxic plant. Humans who wear, or ingest Vurvain will not be able to be harmed by a werewolf.
Aconite/Aconitum: Also known as Monkshood, or Wolfsbane. This special and very toxic plant is used to repel, and in some cases stop Lycanthropy before it begins to ravage the human system and eventually turn them. Though it is not a permanant solution it will work up until that human creates a tolerance to the plant. Otherwise, it then becomes toxic when ingested, and will kill the human turned wolf from the inside out. It will burn a werewolf if it comes in contact with them, and if ingested will simply kill them.
Belladonna: A poisonous plant that is fatal to anyone, but can also be used merely as a sedative. Commonly used by witches to capture other immortals and kill them, otherwise, it is highly poisonous to witches themselves, since they are still human. Ingesting Belladonna will kill anyone instantly if they ingest the right amount.
Wood: Fatal to vampires, but only if they get shot or staked in the heart. Anything else will just slow them down.
Silver: A common myth, but if you want to go after a werewolf with Silver then be my guest. Otherwise it would be better if you turn your silver killing intentions towards Skin Walkers and Shape Shifters. The real ones who are affected by Silver in any way. Try and kill a werewolf, and you better be sure its dead before turning your back, otherwise you will have a very pissed off werewolf trying to maul you.
Werewolf bite: Almost ironically a bite from a werewolf to any other immortal will kill them instantly.
Things Helpful towards Immortals.
Moon Stone: A stone that if worn or held by a werewolf during his transformation will lessen the pain and make the transformation easier. It is a small oval stone about the size of a baseball, that ranges from light gold to brown.
Sun Ring: A ring that allows Vampires to walk in the sun. If they dont wear it then they will burn up and die the moment the sun touches their skin.
Vervain Necklace: Normally worn by witches and Shape shifters, who unlike every other immortal are still affeced by the hypnotism of a vampire.
Liquid Aconite Necklace: Warn by Any immortal wanting to repel an angry werewolf.
Items: (I will only permit Sun Rings and Moon Stones After I evaluate your character. Anything else is fine)

The Idiom "Looks can be deceiving" has never been as true as when it comes to Caterina Delancey. On the outside, Caterina appeared to be very fun and playful, all beguiling smiles along with an endearing nature and easy charm. But truly, underneath all of that fun and games is someone selfish, impulsive, even manipulative and vicious. The most important thing to remember about Caterina is that she is always looking out for herself, she doesnt give a damn about anyone who she needs to betray, use, kill, or hurt in order to get what she wants or needs. She fills no remorse, or pity, or anything over her wrongdoings, and she enjoys playing mind games with people.
She also is very seductive, and she has no qualms about using her sensuality and sexuality as a means to an end. She often seems to prefer it as its efortless. Flirting comes naturally to her, and hedonism is something she utterly delights in. Only when confronted by someone who knows her true nature will she not bother with the innocent facade and become the sadistic, and vicious creature that she really is. She will often put in a flirty comment here and there when she isnt busy being sarcastic or condescending. If she cant get whats shes after by charm or suduction, she finds that threatening, bribery, and extortion work quite well.
An inherently prideful and vain being, Caterina hates being one-upped in any manner. For all her outward acts of kindness and sweetness, Caterina can do an abrupt and complete 180 degree turn if things aren’t going her way. When denied, annoyed or backed into a corner, she can turn vindictive, mean and petty, resorting to scathing comments and biting sarcasm. She’s also prone to impulsiveness, petulance and bursts of temper, especially during situations fraud with emotions; she gets mad, and then she gets even while still mad. Part of it is because every feeling and sensation is more amplified when one is a vampire, but in many ways, Caterina is still emotionally the same self-indulgent teenager that she was when she was turned, both her physical and mental aging halted by the transformation.
History: Caterina was born roughly 160-180 years ago in Estonia. Where she gave birth out of Wedlock, and was cast away from her family. From there she was forced to live in a different village, under a different name "Catherina Lacey" the only suitable name for her there, where she wouldnt be known as a Delancey.
It was only when she met Gavin that her life became a wreck. He knew what she was, and wanted her dead. So she ran, as far and fast as she could, and with her she took the curse. In the end she ended up back in her little village. Where she found that Gavin had murdered every single villager. Thats when she fed on the blood of a vampire woman who had been living in her village, and killed herself.
There was still a hit on her though, Gavin was not one to forgive and forget. He knew with her there every Doppleganger would be murdered, and the curse would remain. So she still ran, and kept herself hidden, she created plans, killed who she needed to kill, and somehow ended up in the one place she vowed to never go to. Rooks Hollow.
