I dislike how games like lotro dump a big patch upgrade without warning

So I'm firing up lotro bcos I have a spare 30 minutes and I want to just run around and do stuff.

But in the login screen immediately it runs into "patching" dialogue and is at 29% after 5 minutes??? And this happens without warning about 10 times a year ( And there is no warning before it starts the patching process so my PC is stuck doing this and I can't play any other mmo or download big movies or anything. How annoying!!! By the time it finishes patching my 30 minutes is up (

It's an mmorpg, expect patching. If you don't want an mmorpg that doesn't patch... play any T3fun mmorpg.

cancel mid-patch? doesn't this pose a risk of mucking up the install? windows is famous for leaving unfinished bits of files and patch info in its registry which it can never fix. stopping mid patch assumes windows and lotro knows what it is doing - windows is 100% guaranteed to fail on mission critical applications (this is why they don't use it on military apps). not a good idea to stop the patch?

well i think they should warn us before starting the patching process that they are about to patch. then i would exit and try another mmo and i can make time to patch later...

(this is what they did in mneverwinter nights 1, also i think they had a full patch list announced before the patch was applied)
