Default MMO's Ruining Single Player Games For Me...

Ever since all these Free to Play Games started becoming popular and the MMORPGS especially. I have completely lost all interest in single player games, I just don't have the attention span for it anymore. I think the communities of MMOs or the partying system just makes the game 10x better than a single player game. For example, lets take Skyrim probably the most popular single player RPG, I could not go very far at all without my attention going onto something else and then I'd somehow find myself playing a game on the computer like an MMORPG. Has this happened to anyone else?

Agree, playing alone is just pointless now.

sounds like a personal problem, I have loads of singleplayer games, both old and new, and I enjoy them still all the time. Especially considering I play them when I'm downloading/installing something.

F2P mmos makes me lose interest in mmos in general.
I find more fun in singleplayer games without hardcore, repetitive and boring grinds and better storylines.

When I first tried an MMO (Lineage 1 beta in 1999), I was hooked and basically gave up single player games for good. The exception is Madden football, which I enjoy doing franchise mode by myself. But RPG's... no, I just can't bring myself to play if they're single player.

It's the other way around for me.. Depends what single player games you play.
I love single player games, after playing all those single player game by Bioware, Bethesha, and other companies, I just can't get into mmorpgs anymore. Single player games always have better gameplay, story, overall experience , etc. Every now and then I feel like playing an online game but it just gets boring fast for me.. all mmorpgs are too repetitive and nothing really unique.

OP only mentioned skyrim.. but imo skyrim wasn't that great, there are more interesting single player rpgs out there.

That is dependent upon the user. I still enjoy single player games while playing multiplayer at the same time.

Like what Blue Phoenix said, there are plenty of good Single Player RPG's that are more interesting than MMO's out atm apart from a few. Skyrim isn't one of them (Dragon's Dogma was better IMO). Xenoblade alone is worth getting a Wii for, not to mention all the other great stuff to come out for it in the past few years if you like Single Player RPGs.

MMO's are becoming stale to me. Most of the newer games are just the same thing wrapped a different way, the rise in action MMO's hasn't been up to par with what I would have expected and the older MMO's are losing their appeal to me.

    Edit:

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing with other people, even more so in recent years after trying out new roles, but really that kind of enjoyment is going to be filled with games like Torchlight 2, Borderlands 2, Secrets of Grindea and Starbound when they come out. Pretty much the only MMO's I'm looking to try out are PSO2, Firefall and GW2.

Replay your old RPG games! Like ff7,ff8,ff9,ff10, suikoden, wild arm games, chrono cross, and etc.. There is alot of legit single player rpg games.

I don't think it has much to do with MMOs at all. It's just that modern RPGs just suck. And that's again because the bigger companies these days just care for money. The game designers are no longer allowed to design games they want it, they need to design them so that they sell well. Just what happened to MMOHut also happens to all the big developer companies. Blizzard and Square-Enix already went downhill.

The only offline RPGs I play these days are either older games from Genesis/PSX era or indie RPGs. Those still got spirit.

I felt that way too until I dusted off my ps2 and threw in digimon world 3 LOL. My point being, I won't pick up any average looking game and play, it has to be extremely good(to me) for me to play. Last game I bought was devil may cry 4. :/

I play Sims 2. It's single player. Wish it was an mmo. It has a strong community; I never feel alone. There are dozens of forums, each with their own personality, and plenty of players to talk to all day long about this and that of the game.

I'm looking forward to Oblivion Online. I played the single player Oblivion for a while and thinking that I could be online with others and play just sends chills up and down my spine.

I don't like Single Player games either. Actually, I've never ever ever ever liked single players game. All I played were MMOs except Fifa (usually with friends or online). Only single player games I have played have been Demon Souls, Oblivion, and Skyrim those games were just amazing RPGs. You'd wish they were MMORPGs, but then realize how horrible that would actually be, and continue to play single player. So I don't blame you on the most part, but Skyrim? Srsly, wtf is wrong with you?

at first i was like 'yay mmorpgs!'
now 10 years'ish later im like 'great another asian grinder' im lucky i can even find one mmo i enjoy. right now i enjoy single player games like dark souls and dragons dogma way more then these crappy mmo's. its like 1 is made by a bunch of monkey's while the other is made by intelligent imaginative human beings. mmorpg's never really improved much over the years imo.

Exactly. The problem is; we're a bunch of MMO Vets, and OnRPG had a curse; we all had MMO ADD. With both of those problems is: we now know what a bad MMO is and decent MMOs we can't stay addicted to. When we first started playing MMOs we didn't know what a bad one was, so they all were fun!
Now MMOs are popular, the market is being milked, there aren't too many ideas to make free MMOs stand out, and the P2P ones bring us back to our curse.

yeah i hate the human brain for getting bored when doing the same thing over lol. why cant i just stick to 1 mmorpg my whole life and stay cool with it, or why cant i just eat pizza every day without getting sick of it xD its pretty much the same lol

I used to think that Single player games were pointless too.

UNTIL I REALIZED MMORPGS ARE CLONES OF EACH OTHERS WITHOUT ANYTHING NEW OR WORTH WHILE.

I'm in the same boat as the other people who have lost interest interest in MMOs vs single player games. There are some times when I think "hey, it'd be cool if I could co-op this game with a friend and I wish this were more persistent." Unfortunately the problem is that MMOs tend to be full of people I don't enjoy playing with and tend to be more end game oriented vs single player games at least trying to tell a decent story.
