AFAIK, servers are still located in Japan. Will they create local US/EU servers? Hated my latency when I played this, 150ms-180ms. The only thing that I didn't like about FFXIV is the UI. Gameplay-wise, it's great and innovative. If 2.0 improves the UI, then I'll definitely come back for this.

That trailer was beautiful along with the graphics of the game...But I never got into it. I hope this game has some success tho. This is a halfway decent game that deserves a player base. It gets me annoyed when you have crappy generic f2p MMOs with millions of players, and games like this that actually try something different die.
    Relax and enjoy life

You should be able to get into the game when 2.0 releases. The game actually gave you goals with the Relic classes and special Artifact quest and a individual Relic weapon quest.

Did they add markers for NPCs, such as quest givers/receivers, shop keepers, etc?

no because thats a gross, handholding feature.

well.. there's some sort of quest marker, but it's not as obvious as in say wow.

Well, then, I'll continue to stay away from the FF online franchise.

yeah, can't have games where you have to use your own brain to figure out quests!

Is there some type of trial? I want to see what the game is like I don't want to walk into the game without knowing if it's truly fit for my taste. I've played FFXI before so I know what that is like but I've never tried FFXIV before.

Well, by not doing it, they are keeping the game elitist and rendering their playerbase to be small, regardless of how popular FF is, and this is just my opinion.

Yup, this is the truth and nothing can be done about it. Those "hand-holding" features are after all a big reason that WoW has the player base its had up until today.

The markers were originally added because players in other games often tried to stand over NPCs to hide them, making it hard for other players to find them.

I'm glad that when 2.0 is released, everyone who bought the game gets another free month to play all the new content.

Theres a fine line between "hand holding" and convenience. I doubt many people would agree that the old Everquest system of "Just hand crap to an NPC and hope he gives you something back instead of keeping the item" is an adequate quest system either while some may say anything beyond that too is "hand holding".

Some things aren't "hand holding" but simply a matter of convenience. Making a game not frustrating and making a game easy are two very different things.

FF14 was just frustrating to play for me because of those little things. If they haven't made it a little more user friendly then all these changes are pointless.

If you mean finding/doing quests then yes they have already made that easier.
