Not sure if this is obvious or not but some of the Gods should be cheaper than the rest, I believe they're Cupid, Hades and Ao Kuang but I'm not 100% positive. Keeping Goodwill 100% is probably obvious but worth mentioning. (If the Godpacks still around it's definitely worth it)
Really depends on how much you play, it probably only took me a month or two. I got 3 accounts to 30 (plus varying additional playtime on each one after hitting cap) in less than a year. That was probably with about 4 hours a day give or take breaks/binges.

Yeah it is easy enough to stop attacking but you have to consider attacks that are already in the air before she pops her shield. Late game getting a reflected projectile really hurts! On top of that she is free to attack you as she pleases while you can't attack her for the duration of the shield. If they made the shield like aegis where you can't move or attack for the duration it would have been much more balanced.
I've seen an Ao Kuang get taken down from 100% hp to 5% hp just from a reflected spirit tempest.
Today I played a game on He bo after not playing him for a while. I think I broke my back trying to carry this team. Don't you just love it when an ADC can't land a single auto and the whole team stands in zeus ult for ages...
Also, it's a demonstration of the power of he bo if he gets first blood.

im a newbie at Smite but there are some laner-style gods i have trouble countering: Ao Kuang, Zeus, and I think Poseidon are really hard for me to out-lane using someone like Isis.
If Im using an Isis or Aphrodite, I dont think I cant hope to beat Ao Kuang or Zeus if I face them in a lane. Maybe I should buy some instant/active item. Best I can hope for is to slow the speed at which they start taking down towers, and wait for help.
sorry if im not using the right terminology. I still havent learned all the Smite terms.
Be warned - I am a major player of Regnum Online the mmo. I've been playing it for about 2 years and rarely go without logging in at least once a day. You can also look at good alternatives to Regnum such ase Aion online and Aika Online.
Ao Kuang is one of the easiest gods to fight against after you gain some experience. He is really good at killing noobs. To counter him just run out of tornado. He will rarely get you exactly in the center of the tornado, and by rarely I mean super-rare once in a blue moon. If you are not in center you just run out of it fast, always run towards to closest border from you. If he does get you in the center you can either blow your dash or movement ability to get out fast or just take the DoT, the AoE stays on the ground for a short period before it applies the DoT.
As for his slowing projectile it is fairly easy to juke. If you are having a great deal of trouble with the slow you can buy Winged Wand(Item) which passively removes the slow. Worst case scenario you can use your beads to cleanse the slow in a really tight spot. Btw, I recommend always recommend getting beads because it saves your life like no other active! Oftentimes a CC might mean guaranteed death especially if you are squishy. It takes some getting used to, but eventually you will be able to beads on reaction very fast. The other day I used beads on an Arachne's pull mid pull! It was hilarious! Also more importantly it denied a free kill.
His ulti is easy to juke at mid or max range. At close range you can juke it if you anticipate it before hand. Take advantage of the game's amazing stereoscopic sound. Turn off the game's music, keep SFX volume high and wear headphones. Every skill in the game has a unique sound effect and Ao Kuang and Ra's ultis are no different. When they cast it you can tell that they are casting it and you can know exactly where they are are casting it from. In the case of Ao Kuang's ulti, not only does it have a ground indicator but you can tell the path of the projectile if you pay close attention to the sound it makes. The sound source actually follows the path of the dragon in his ulti so you can tell which direction it is moving in.
To get better at this game you should increase your mouse sensitivity gradually. Go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Mouse>Pointer Options. At first you will think high sensitivity is hard to control but you gradually get used to it. I remember about a year ago I used to think max sensitivity was crazy as a little tap on the mouse would send the pointer flying. But now I always use max sensitivity because I've gotten used to it.
I highly recommend gradually increasing your sensitivity to any new gamer not just smite players because it greatly improves your gameplay across all games. Even out of game it saves you precious milliseconds per mouse action which adds up over time.
In smite you should always be juking with camera turns not the A and D keys. The only time it is okay to use A and D to juke are if you are an ADC and you are auto attacking.

thanks for the pointers!
can you help me understand how to know which god is playing the "ADC" role? (is that Attack Defend.. Control? i cant recall what it stands for again)
yea smite has some amazing stereo sound. I will try those with Ao Kuang! ( i already have my mouse on max speed+accel). Playing Aphrodite i think i have to really use the Kiss ability to attack, but i usually miss because you have to lead your target quite well.
here are the roles that you need to know
ADC = Carry - they are labeled as hunters - they are 99% on the lane with support
Support = they are labeled as gaurdians - 99% on the long lane with the carry -
Jungler = 99% of them have the item Bumbas Mask so you should know by the item if you arent sure about the heroes
Solo = always on the shortest lane -
Mid = self explanatory
that way people won't rage at you for going to the solos lane instead of the carrys
