Some people just get butt hurt over things and never get over it. It can be a bad experience with a support staff member, or a bug that causes them to be unable to play, maybe even a hacker problem (either someone hacking in the game to get an unfair advantage, or someone hacking someone else account).

I did a quick google and a majority of the players seem to hate Nexon because:
    1) People apparently feel that Nexon does not fix game breaking, or game ruining bugs (at least not fast enough). But, there are also people that commend Nexon for fixing bugs (or getting them fixed).
    2) Poor customer support. People feel that Nexon puts up a game server and then offers no form of customer support for it at all.
    3) Partially goes under #2, they feel that exploiters and hackers go unpunished or that Nexon does not make an effort to deal with them.
    4) People feel that Nexon pushes out games and does not really care about the game, but just want profit.
There's more, but a majority of it seems to be those four points.

Looking at glassdoor, people who have claimed to work at Nexon complain:
    1) A majority(12 people out of 23), gave Nexon a "dissatisfied" or lower rating. Only 6 of these reviews were above neutral.
    2) Management knows nothing about gaming and imposes harsh deadlines that requires employees to take work home or render them unable to achieve their goals.
    3) Very poor wages (which means the developers they higher, at least on the NA side, are probably not the highest quality)
    4) Rampant favoritism, usually reserved for Korean employees.
    5) No vision besides big dollar signs.
    6) Claim that all competent employees (ie, the ones that can actually accomplish things) have left for better jobs, or are looking for better jobs.

All of these comments that I looked at (both for players and developers/employees) came from 2012+. Also, please remember that I do not have an opinion on Nexon and that I am just relaying what I've found, so I can't really discuss it further than what I've already posted.

game developers are just like server admin.
almost everyone likes to hate server admin.

the problem server admin, and especially asian developers, have is that almost 99% of them have zero understanding of the concept of natural justice. ie: no favouritism, always hear both sides, be open in your dealings etc. so of course everything falls to pieces. Asian developers truly are the worst - China's justice system is quite atrocious so the asians just accept that server admin is going to be bad.

That seems like a pretty solid list. It's sad that it has such an easily found list of negative issues.

So are what would be your personal least favorite, ApocaRuff? favorite?

MY personal favorite company I've yet to find. SOE is the company that I've had the best experience with, excluding SWG and the NGE, but I don't think the NGE was totally their fault (Lucas Arts probably had a big part in it). After SOE, a lot of my game time is spent in indie games. The problem with indie games is that 90% of the time they have volunteer support staff, which means there is room for corruption and/or parts of the day/night that no one is online to cover the shift due to real life matters.

The company I had the worse experience with was Aeria games. Not sure which it was, but they either had (back a few years, when I was playing Kingdom Heroes) volunteer support staff, or very bad paid staff. Either way, they were immature and unprofessional. The other thing I do not like about them, at least in the past (I haven't played any of their games, at least not seriously, since Kingdom Heroes), was that they tended to publish games with extremely pay-to-win cash shops. Similar to what people claim about Nexon, I got the impression that they only cared about their profit and did not have any sort of pride as a company. I got the impression that they did not care about the customer, and (also similar to what I've read about Nexon) had a staff that had no idea what it was doing.

the best developer i've had experience with is Bioware. From the start to finish with neverwinter nights 1 they were extremely dedicated and professional. Nowadays im not sure they have the same developmental focus, maybe too much drift into storyline.

At its inception, Neverwinter Nights was and actually still is a revolutionary product. Extremely polished, elegant, very high attention to detail (spell icons could be read and understand with a glance) and supported by a very focussed, responsive and communicative forums and patch team. Every patch was meticulously detailed, cheats and hacks systematically prevented, comunity concerns diplomatically and firmly dealt with in extremely active forums. Many game developers today gained their first experience as developers on nwn's toolset forums.

NWN should still be a top mmo today except that Atari owns NWN and is unable to promote it because Atari is a failing company. But in truth, NWN outstrips games like Tera and Aion in playability (if not in gfx and action).

(peolpe like to say NWN is not an mmo, but if you look at mmos today, many have instancing, which is precisely what NWN's community server distribution model is).

I hate Nexon because I played Maple Story for like 5 years, and during that time I'm gonna guesstimate 3 of those years were ruined by hackers. They're making millions of dollars from that game, and they couldn't hire a few GMs to actually do their job?

I have heard Aeria games is disliked as well. its always a bummer when dollar signs are the driving factor for developers and once they make their money they leave people out to dry.

I actually haven't had any interaction with bioware yet...I am still learning about several of the developers and publishers (which is why I wanted to get peoples feed back) so its good to hear some positive news

And as for hackers and maple story...well just hackers in general...I can see how that would be extremely frustrating after seeing how long it took to progress in Champions of Regnum. If someone one day walked in and had hacked an account of mine that I wanted to play and had placed so much effort into I would be furious.
