I actually prefer them having a subscription fee rather than being a F2P game, Cause with a F2P game most of the money they earn comes from a cash-shop, Which would make them focus more on putting stuff on there to make money rather than putting quality content in the game.
So a P2P is what is best. I havent played a single F2P game (Except maybe dota) that has been a good game, Because its been too much focus on the cash shop rather than the actual gameplay.

Wildstar will be the best MMORPG of 2014 in my opinion. Atleast from what i've seen and heard, EQ:Next or ESO isnt really appealing to me.

*Edit* Since this will be my main game to play, I dont mind paying $15 a month, Since that's pretty much what i've been paying for wow the last 6-7 years.

it can work if they can keep the economy stable. the system worked out very well in tera, the timecards were very easily affordable with in game gold. I never had to pay sub again after they were released

The chronoscrolls in Tera were the exact same price as a subscription though, which is why it worked. You could buy some and stock up for your own time, or sell some when you get broke. CREDDs are $5 more than the subscription meaning the only reason to buy one would be to sell for gold. People won't sell it cheap and supply will be limited.

They sure love taking risks. With their cartoony, relaxed, comical art style and now with their hybrid business model.

And we all know the success stories that arise from developers taking risks in this industry, right?

    Lets see

    Standard Box: $59.99

    Subscription Fee
    1 Month 14.99
    3 Months 41.97
    6 Months 77.94
    12 Months 131.88

    C.R.E.D.D.
    $19.99

PAY 2 WIN! (Diablo 3 RMAH) (9000 Gold Farmers in coming...)
In game AH to sell and buy in-game gold for REAL MONEY!

    Microtransaction Purchases
Planned for later date.... Yeah $$$$$...

Now how fraking stupid do they think people are, moooo cash cows (yes you), this game will not last long at all.... Basically your throwing at least $200 USD away for a game that will go Free 2 Play in a year.

Lol, wasn't everyone hyping this game a week ago.

Now everyone jumped on the wagon and rippin' on it. Because it's not F2P

Same features as before... you have to pay for it and everyone loses their shits.

Oh well, I only planned on playing it, if it was F2P.
Just because of the nostalgia of ratchet and clank, which this game reminds me of.

I was never on the bandwagon just because it didn't look that great to me. It has a heap of nice features but it just isn't something I could see myself playing for a long time so this doesn't effect me.

But I find it strange a company like NCSoft would head in this direction after Aion has done so well going f2p.. Kinda kills my hope for Blade and Soul being a decent payment model :/

What do you expect? If it were a B2P model it'd be just fine but with the current market P2P is just suicide.

I was just thinking the same thing..........the current hype last I checked was all behind EQ Next. Wild Star doesn't have a chance.

Tbh I always felt it looked uninteresting, this just puts the nail in the coffin for me. Why they would not go with the same model as Aion or GW2 is beyond me after they have seen the success of those two. At this point, the two most appealing options to the average player is F2P with a cash shop, or B2P with the type of cash shop GW2 has.

I have played in the beta and all I can say is this game is nothing new or revolutionary for the mmo genre. It may appeal to ex WoW players but to charge $15 a month for this is ridiculous. This game will for sure go f2p within a year. The combat, art style and features have all been done before and you can play similar for free and with other MMO games coming out soon which will be either f2p or b2p, there is no reason this game will last that long p2p.
