Default Unity to implement native support for 2D development

    http://blogs.unity3d.com/2013/08/28/...tive-2d-tools/

Been waiting for a game engine that can support both 2D and 3D graphics simultaneously and easily, this is perfect for a project I've had planned for a while. Learning all this from scratch would have taken far too long.

like someone mentioned in the comments, this almost makes Unity a no-brainer for almost every game type.
the future is bleak, uncertain, beautiful
tomorrow they might come and arrest us all
only if you listen closely can you hear the machines
    beneath the side walk whispering
the machines beneath the side walk are
    always whispering
    strive to listen close
    please, try to be free
    don't be afraid
the end of the world will never come

I've been wondering when a major engine would try something like this. It's a good call; 2D's not going anywhere. May as well take advantage of most of your pipeline to create 2D as well as 3D.
