I actually listened to some music today by Ghibli

    1) Nausicaa
    2) Princess Mononoke
3&4) A tie between Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle... They are both amazing!

Princess Mononoke is my all-time favorite anime film.
My Neighbor Totoro is second, because it was a big part of my childhood (I used to get the film from Family Video on a weekly basis when I was 7-10).
Kiki's Delivery Service as well, as it was also a big part of my childhood.

Other films I loved were Whisper of the Heart, Tales from Earthsea, and Arriety. Of course, I like all Ghibli films (just like everyone else :P).

Watched it just now - and my childhood doll phobia just came-back. That was FREAKY when the parade bursts into his dream and he muses, "Is my mind this messed-up?" and "Another me?"... It's like - if all the chaotic personalities and scenarios that we dream about are a part of us, then a lot of our mental identity is that psychotic-parade. This movie was SCARY. I find dolls incredibly scary but this movie was about a flippin doll trying to mind-control people into comatose dreamers. That would incredibly scary if parts of my brain were autonomously making fallacious self-bliss off of irrational assumptions not connected to reality nor my conscious free will. Because I hate the potential conflict of free will and identity and opinion and logic that would create cognitive dissonance if I had - like - multiple personalities which I can only perceive as parading dolls. It sucks that other people cannot understand me, but what would be even worse would be if my own self could only perceive the rest of my mentality as a bunch of parading marionettes.

lol @ the butterfly groping scene. That was sexy.

EDIT: That said - all of the characters were Awesome and the reality-shifts were incredibly CREATIVE.

Just saw Grave of the Fireflies the other day for the first time; it's so freaking depressing. Ruined my day .

Yeah, that movie messed me up almost as much as Akira did when I watched I shouldn't have seen it when I was so young. My friend liked it for some reason, but I always got depressed when I watched it.

    My Neighbor Totoro

I still hum the credits theme to Totoro every once in a while. My friend has a plush catbus.

    Princess Mononoke
    Howl's Moving Castle
    Spirited Away

There are still a number of films I haven't watched yet but I suspect they won't dethrone these three.
